Should I update scenery if I have ORBX ?

Featured Replies

I have updated 5.2 with HF using client and content updater. But not scenery since I have ORBX Global+Vector and some regions and airports. So I think updating scenery will overwrite (corrupt) ORBX. Is that correctly understood ?

If you do not have your scenery outside your main P3DV5 directory - just use the ORBX Central to first do a verify file check for the areas you have installed. If anything is missing or corrupted it will fix it without a complete reinstallation. When your done just use the HELP menu there to synchronise your sim-scenery and ORBX will check and rewrite you scenery config for you as well. If you have all your scenery outside of your main P3D directory then they should all be there and the ORBX Central synch the sim will still fix up your scenery config file.

I had no issues at all but I have some in the main directory and all the rest outside. I just do a verify file for all those and then do a synch sim at the end. Does not take long!

All else fails go to the ORBX forum for help they are pretty good!

I use ORBX (installed in libraries) I un-installed PD3 all at once, then re-installed using Setup.exe I didn't even have to open up ORBX Central, everything was fine.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's

I have my ORBX in the main P3D directory. A verify of all my ORBX titles would mean a lot of job since there are so many. Question is could I miss something by not running the P3D scenery update ? I mean has not ORBX overwritten all default stuff (since I have global+vector).

I run my verify files over night or early evening when I know I’ll be away from the sim several hours. It does take three or four hours but I. Find it necessary if I run the scenery update to avoid the black patches.

My impression is that I must manually verify title for title. How do you start a verify for everything you have ?

jfri - you cannot do it on a batch file process with ORBX Central- you will need to do it for each scenery area if that is what you need to do.

Just start them one at a time and they are qued by ORBX Central. They will then be verified in the order you start them.

So my impression was right. I need to manually start every title there are no button to verify everything I have.
