JF Arrow RPM constantly rising?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Quick question:

During climb the RPM in the Just Flight Arrow is constantly rising. Am i missing something here? After climbout i set RPM to about 2300 and during climb it is rising again until it reaches 2500 at some point and i cant set it to lower except with the throttle lever.

Best regards,

Tom

Whats the position of the prop lever in the VC?

Right now its set to 60%, i am cruising at 9000ft and the RPM is at 2500. Doesn't seem right does it?

In the Arrow IRL I usually run 2400rpm in cruise but 2500 isnt going to harm anything just keep it off the redline and out of the harmonic range (2000-2200rpm) if I remember correctly off the top of my head.

But shouldnt i at least be able to maintain 2300RPM? It was set to 2300 after takeoff and unintentionally did rise up to 2500 without touching the prop lever. The only way to change RPM at higher altitudes is by moving the throttles.

Yes you should be able to lower it,try pulling the lever back a bit more and you should get 2400. Climb power in the Arrow is 25inch and 2500RPM.

Moving the prop lever has no effect except from around 95 to 100 percent. Dunno whats wrong here.

Hmm is there a failure? Like a runaway prop? (prop goes to full flat pitch and can't be controlled) Had that happen once IRL but never in sim

Don't think so because this happens every flight. The higher i fly, the higher the RPM rises.

Hmm somthing sounds off. Manifold pressure should drop and RPM should stay constant. Do you have your settings set to pull realism and assists off?

I have all assits set to off, check. I think i'll try a reinstall then. Mayber something went wrong along the way.

I was concerned about harmonic range when I first started flying the Arrow, however, there seems to be no red zone on the prop tach up in that range. I've never flown an Arrow IRL but our Cherokee 180 had a harmonic range around 2000 - 2200 as I recall (in this case obviously with a fixed pitch prop).

Flew a Comanche a few times and I remember there was a recommended order to setting power and prop rpm, but I don't remember which was to be set first.

I have never seen mentioning of “harmonic rpm” in any arrow POHs. One pig I still have shoes performance tables per percentage of power. 2100rpm is one of legit cruise setting .

As fas as MSFS I would check for double assignment for rpm. I had situation in the past when somehow my assignment profile got messed up

Depends on the engine and prop combo the flight school I taught at had a 180hp arrow

I flown all of them 180, T-tail, turbo but only taught in 200 hp. I would be curious to find out why that range is to be avoided?
