April 22, 200719 yr Hello dudsters,I'm new here & I got Flight SimuLator X for my birthday today :)My dad used to have a baron like flightsimulator x baron but flightsimulator x baron has some probs.I have snow clouds under my airplane all the time.It looks really silly. IS there a patch for this. Also, the clouds look very bad & hit the mountains in an ugly way.flightsimulator is very slow too. I have alienware rig with sli Nividia 8800 hardware card. Why is it soooooo slow? Is there a patch page somewhere for all these problems? My friends say old version of flightsimuloter is greater than this X one. Is that true? I can take it back & change if so.where can i get this Flytampa flightsimulor? it looks much better than FlightsimultorX.ThxBrent Hopper IIIhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170369.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170370.jpg
April 22, 200719 yr I run both FS9 & FSX, as I have preferences with both. For flight across the "Wasatch Front", I prefer FSX. For specialty airports/areas such as Fly Tampa, and FlightScenery Portland, or Glacier Bay, I prefer FS9. The Wasatch Front FSX:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170374.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170375.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170376.jpgFS9 - FlightScenery Portlandhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170377.jpgL.Adamson
April 22, 200719 yr Looks like you have some way top go to optimise your settings. Suggest you post all your settings in the hardware forum, and your driver version and card settings, and we'll see what we can do. FSX does not have a cloud problem - that's a visibility or temperature inversion layer. I've seen those from the cokpit of a real plane many times.FS2004 - ACOF was the previous version and with addons it could match or exceed what you see here. But you only have FSX in its default state at the present time, wo who knows?A patch is due from Microsoft. Suggest you spend some time getting used to the sim and reading the forums. There is much to learn! Allcott
April 22, 200719 yr Thank you Mr L.Adamson.Youre pictures are very nice. The mountains look like my mothers coffee cakes & you have no trees. If I turn the tree on it runs at stutter speeds. ugly & horrible.I don't understand the last picture of FS9 - FlightScenery Portland.I found portand in my fsx & it was all brown & ugly. What am i missing??? My othere videogames run at 100 fpss.
April 22, 200719 yr FSX is optimized to run in the 20-35 fps range. Flight sims don't need 60 fps like a shooter game does.In your graphic setting make sure you turn off light bloom and ground scenery shadows, also make sure you set the water slider no higher than low 2.x.
April 22, 200719 yr As general rule, I run FSX with auto-gen off. Water effects are usually Off too! This is good for about 10 fps, as I prefer usually 25-30 fps. There are also "tweaks" with files that use partial auto-gen, but I just don't bother tweaking. Flightscenery Portland, is a payware addon for FS9 (FS2004). Very detailed and looks great.L.AdamsonFSX with plantlife detail, but no auto-gen:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170378.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170379.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/170380.jpg

April 22, 200719 yr Yeah, people are funny. I post a couple of logical questions and they go ignored...this idiot insults the "game", the forums and the users that frequent here, and people jump at the chance to help him.
April 22, 200719 yr Thank you again Mr L.Adamson.I shall try that.I better go, those mean men below are mad with me.

April 22, 200719 yr Some of you need to chill..... Did anyone think that this may be a younger user, just needing some help?? Yes, "sucky" may not be the most appropriate description, but he has been respectful in his posts. The same cannot be said of some of you in this thread.Brent, set your weather to clear skies. The clouds under the plane and around mountains will be gone. April 23, 200719 yr Could also be an older person posing as a younger person to churn up something in what has been a calm place for quite a while now?-the problem with the internet is that we never know. Honest questions seem to be met by helpful answers-that seems to be universal. Those with antagonism seem to be met with antagonism. If it is a young person-don't you find it sad that "sucky" is a part of their normal vocabulary-do they know what they are saying? In any case-let's tone it down on all sides and get back to the calmness that has been here for quite a while.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
