Coherent GTDraw stutter

Featured Replies

  • Author

I have to report that the Coherent GTDraw stutter is no longer present for me in SU5.  The parameter in dev mode fps display never once dropped from a solid green bar in my first flight EGLL to EIDW in FBW A320.

In its place I now have Coherent GTUI Thread stutters😂

I have only one aircraft mod in my Community folder, the Piper PA44 from Caranado. I get a stutter every 4 seconds or so. One of the lines in the FPS counter turns red just for an instant, then goes back to green until the next one at about 4 seconds. You don't notice it much in the air, but sure do on the ground.  I have tried several of the fixes offered by other posters, but nothing cures it. It doesn't matter which plane I choose, it is always there.  I can't complain to MS through the MSFS forum because my account is somehow screwed up. I try to log on and it tells me my info is wrong. I try to reset the info and it tells me I do not have an account. I try to register for an account and it tells me that I already have one.  I keep following this thread and others about the stutter problem, but  can't post a ticket with MSFS.

Due to most MSFS users not having this four second pause problem, and you only having the PA-44 add on (in other words no other items affecting it), this pause is likely to be caused by an external problem / something running in the background in windows.  I would check for running tasks in task manager and see if any are pinching CPU cycles.

Also, are you sure the PA-44 is in your community folder? Carenado planes can only be installed through the marketplace, and they don't normally install their aircraft in community.  They would be in the official folder or Carenados own folder.

PS. On the account registration, I share your pain! I have been caught in that mad cycle with other titles.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Thanks for the reply. You are correct. The plane is in my Official folder. But I do have the payware version of FSUIPC in the community folder., but I don't think that would cause the stutter. Running the FPS counter I see the stutter shows up in the big box at the top. It is running solid green but about every 4 seconds it goes red just for an instant. The next box below is the Limited B Main Thread PC box and it is doing the same thing. The next box is the Main Thread MS box and it is doing the same thing. All the other boxes are steady green all the time. I am by no means qualified to analyze this problem, but I have seen others posting with the same problem. This is the only program I am having this problem with. Sure is annoying.

PS I will be off line for a couple of days.

OK.  When you come back, we can have a go at tracing it.  I am fairly sure it can be solved.
The main thread doing it kind of gives it away, but we could maybe use task manager to check what other apps are stealing your CPU cycles.
It might even be a setting in FSUIPC that needs looking at.

bobcat999 - I am back. I have removed FSUIPC completely from the computer. The problem is still there. I look at Task Manager and there is nothing running showing this kind of action. The main thread just drops sharply about every 4 seconds. Since I do not have any addon mods except the one plane, I am thinking of deleting the program and waiting till after this Thursday update and then going to the MS store and doing a new download. Download time is not an issue as my internet download speed runs in the upper 200bps. My P3Dv5.2 does not have this problem. I don't have any games installed, so I cant check that.

OK Strato.  If nobody else has any suggestions then it might be the only way to go. Such a shame!

Best bet is to do this then, and try it without any add-ons at all, because it isn't a widespread problem.  The vast majority of people don't see it, so I can only think it is a specific kind of interaction between MSFS and something else that is causing it, so a bare MSFS is the best place to start.

Thanks. I should add that I am using the household wifi system and the gateway is about 20 feet away in another room. It is a 1 GB speed Xfinity and in my room where the computer is, I get anywhere from 200 to 300 bps download speed. In looking at Task Mgr I see the wifi running graph looks like a craggy mountain range, but it does not look like anything big is taking a dive every 4 seconds. In fact looking at all tabs of Task Mgr, nothing is taking much power and there are no movements linked to the stutter that I can see.

I will wait for the update this week to be solid, then delete the program from my computer and do a new download.

Thanks

I have a similar issue with stutters and Xfinity Internet. I have proven to them that its there issue with the infrastructure in my neighborhood. I can fix the issue by going and getting a new modem from them. But three weeks later the stutters comes back. Since I rent the modem from them I can keep doing this to they fix it. I'm on my third one now. The tech told me over time the signal get fragmented because with Xfinity you share the bandwidth with your neighbors.  Fiber will be here in a few months so I will move over to ATT if xfinity doesn't fix it. If you rent your modem its worth a try.  Josh

@Stratocruiser1  Do you use the GTN750?  This has been reported.  Stutter every 4 seconds.  EDIT:  Sorry I just saw your other post from Tuesday that a reinstall cleared it.  Just know that if you install this GTN 750 in its current state, it might start again.

No, I don't use the SU6/GTN 750.

No joy yet as my PC is down. I do not have the problem on my Alienware 17: gaming laptop.

Back on line. I did a complete uninstall and a new download/install. Started the sim and the problem was gone. For the first flight only. Did one flight and shut down the sim. Came back the next day and the stutter problem is back. Every 4 seconds I get the stutter. Very noticeable on the ground and in the air at low altitudes.

Any more suggestions?

I might add that I have P3D v5.2 running on the same drive and there are no stutters with that program

Thanks

I bought another copy of MSFS and installed it on my 17" Alienware laptop and the stutter problem is NOT there on that computer. Soit may be one of the multitude of items running in the backround on my main computer, but I am not sure what I am looking for.

also, just so you know the problem is isolated to this computer and MSFS, The P3Dv5.2 installed on this same drive does not have the problem. The MSFS copy installed on my laptop does not have this problem. So, I am inclined to agree with you that it is being caused by something running in the backround, but what? I know I might find it in Task Master, but I am not sure what to look for. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
