A consistent and strange CTD

Any airplane and any airport when coming in on short final to land, regardless if it was a 20 minute flight or a 2 hour flight, the screen freezes for a second or two and a crash right to desktop with no error messages. Has anyone else seen this?

I had that sometimes with my AMD GPU.

Yes..happened to me but with 3rd party scenery (addon airports). The scenery was not compatible with the latest version of MSFS. When approaching the airport, the sim would freeze for a few seconds then CTD. After the developer updated the scenery, problem was resolved. Try starting a flight at the offending airport. Sim will CTD before loading the scenery. Regards.

In addition to that @Bobsk8 suggested I would also advise to fly without mods of any kind for a bunch of flights. You can do this quickly by renaming your Community folder to something like Community.Main  etc

Then create a new folder and call it Community.

Also use a stock Asobo plane.

Important to always test the base game without anything 3rd party.

I have 445 GB of addons in my community folder, so unfortunately random CTDs are something I have a lot of experience with.

One thing that will drive you absolutely mad as you try to triage these issues are that an airport completely on the other side of the globe can cause a CTD. For example, earlier this week I could not land or depart from KLAX in California without a CTD, come to find out the issue was tied to the freeware KJXN in Michigan.

Dev mode + console is useless because the CTD occurs before the culprit file is fully loaded or able to produce an error message.

A lot of people will tell you to add your addons back to your community folder 1 by 1, but I got letter by letter, once you find the letter that causes CTD then start going 1 by 1, you can pretty much ignore liveries it's 99% of the time going to be a scenery.
