Not so sure MS is multi thread anyway, I think there is lots of confusion over that. As far as I am aware and from a quick forum browse it pretty much uses cores same as Xplane.

windows pc has always taken a back seat in terms of xplane. now the same is even true for microsoft.

e.g.

valve index plugged into a steam deck running xplane 12

vs

msfs on an xbox.

much more competitive than xplane 11 running on windows pc.

fyi xplane12 hasnt even technically been announced yet.

its relevant to where those windows pc users that cant use xp12 go.

xbox.

buy an nvidia gpu for $1500+ if they can find one and someone to install it.

or something else.

like a full HD/VR mobile/dockable linux solution for $1400 or less.

the 60%-80% of them who have a windows PC that supports opengl but doesnt support vulkan and likely never will.

xp dashboard seems offline atm, but it was definately a hefty portion of xp11 users, and xp12 is looking to be a whole lot more desirable.

its also not just newer intel gpus, - older amd and nvidia that run xp11 "just fine" also dont have vulkan support.

"next gen" - vast majority of people are going to have to upgrade if they want a good xp12/flightsim experience.

which opens the question "upgrade to what".

Microsoft wants/expects them to upgrade to xbox, which doesnt have xp12 or VR support.

Any kind of windows pc specific focus (ie directx support) wins LR nothing much and would cost lots of time of their best developers.

Mac is just better, and linux devices capable of xp12 outnumber windows pcs capable of xp12 probably 100 to 1, and that will only increase between now and xp12 releasing as devices like the steam deck hit the market.

If the newer Intel GPU and older AMD / Nvidia that runs XP11 just fine then why won't they have vulkan support , proof is needed ? , if you are talking about 10 yr old AMD / Nvidia that's it's common sense they would need to upgrade , simple as that. 

Unless you can show proof , its all speculation.

they run xp11 "just fine" on opengl.

xp12 doesnt have opengl support (except some cockpit panel stuff for 3PDs like terrain radar and avitab). its vulkan/metal only.

You need to back it up with some proof that they run opengl until then it's all garbage , along with GPU models , a decade old GPU will get buried , as i said its common sense that for any new version of XP they would need to upgrade. Show proof and then we can agree.

everyone knows xp12 will only be vulkan, it was already mentioned long back.

they have to. intel, amd and nvidia have not released vulkan drivers for them nor do they plan to.

In intels case any intel gpu (on windows) bought more than about 2 years ago (2019 models), and realistically only going to be usable on the new intel gpus that havent even released yet.
