MSFS performance on older systems after SU5?

Featured Replies

I have seen several videos where they compare MSFS before and after SU5, but it all seem to be on PC systems with newer hardware ie. 2080/3080 GPU's, newest processors, 32 GB Ram or more, and t looks like they indeed have gotten some performance improvements. I have an older I7, 4790@4 Ghz,, 16GB DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28) an M2 as 😄 and a couple of SSD's. I would really appreciate anyone with a similar system, to give their opinion on if they see any performance improvement, and if they can play in High/ultra 4K or what kind of settings they have.

Take a look at my pc specs on my sig, my pc is more the 5 years old.

In my case,  SU5 made a big difference performance wise, I'm quite happy with it although it does have some stutter issues when panning around. It is smooth as butter looking ahead, which is fine, as this is the view we all use to take off and land anyway. Previous SU5, and current visual settings (most ultra)I was not able to fly into big cities without fps dropping below 30, now its a joy to fly into. Also some the stock airplanes were a slide show to fly, not anymore. Overall I'm quite satisfied with the results visually and performance wise. If I had to choose between SU4 or SU5, I will definitely choose the latter.

Only flown for about half an hour on PC so far but mine is noticeably smoother at the same settings (High global preset). I did the discovery flight over London so pretty taxing area with full photogrammetry.

My PC is 7 years old, specs in signature.

Thank you, That is great news guys, looks like I'm beginning to run out of excuses not to buy it. 🙂 If us with older, not up to date specs can have smooth flights without too many stutters, it's really a big step. I don't need to run everything on Ultra settings, and I have seen videos with comparison between ultra and high, and there's almost no difference.

I have a [email protected] and a GTX 1070... Used to bog down in heavy city addon scenery.. not anymore.  VRAM usage is down and the sim is smoother than before. Much to like here.. 🙂
