Photogrammetry trees loading in very late

Featured Replies

Here's an image I took, just right outside of San Francisco. If you look closely at the photogrammetry trees, they load in very late and look terrible. I have an 800Mbit connection and using the vanilla Ultra Preset (lod sliders at 200). The cause of this could be lots of things from heavy server load, to things being changed in SU5, etc. But whatever it is, I hope they fix it.

I didn't try the San Francisco Region yet, but raising both LOD settings to 5 according to another thread improves Photogrammetry Loading in London markably on my system. Buildings are still wrinkly but load properly much earlier, instead of morphing from cuboids to their proper forms

Kind regards, Michael

Why mess with the config files, Asobo just need to return to the SU4 state.

And LOD 5 kills PCs on the ground

I think the original poster here is specifically discussing the trees.  I too have seen this, I have boosted by LOD levels to 3.5 which works well on my PC, but the trees themselves seem unaffcted by this.  It is almost like the tree generation is based on a fraction of the either the TERRAIN or OBJECT LOD setting (i.e. LOD set 5.0 but trees set to LOD .3x5.0 somewhere in the sim)

I think I discovered something here. Someone else in the other thread posted something about the texture settings in the options menu somehow got reversed. Setting it to low is actually Ultra. I did that and noticed a huge difference in the overall quality. It also fixed the photogrammetry tree issue I was having earlier. Here's an updated picture.
