Hi, after many years simming I thought I could keep up but at 82 I realize that I'm falling behind. Since the last update of  v5  I cannot get my Texture Resolution to save ,it always goes back to 512. I'm happy with 1024 .

My sliders are set midway and EA off,  HD off,( my needs are modest)  Frame rate 30.  Vram never exceeds 2.5.out of 8. I've  deleted previous profiles and saved the new one but it will not save the texture resolution. What am I missing ?

I don't know the answer, but you're an inspiration! Hope I'm still flying 18 years from now! (Never had problems like that, but I'm sure someone will come along who can help.)

First of all, I agree with @Tim_Capps: you are an inspiration. I hope that I’m swimming when I’m 82.

Concerning your question, this sounds like it might be a permissions issue. In which folder is your P3D?

Hi iffy,

Also that problem has been reported when starting with an add-on aircraft that was saved as default. e.g. some A2A aircraft were known for causing the texture resolution setting to not save.

The other things you can try are:

a) Make a backup of Prepar3d.cfg  , put that file somewhere safe and delete the original file and let P3D build a new one.

Local Disk (C:) ► Users ► You ► AppData ► Roaming ► Lockheed Martin ► Prepar3D v4 - Prepar3D.cfg

b) From Windows Control Panel, Programs and Features,  you can perform a repair of the P3D client instead of selecting the uninstall option

Thank you for the replies. I remember now from the past that you should start with a default aircraft, I set the A2A Comanche  as the start aircraft ,so that I'm sure is the answer. Thanks again, Never give up trying.......

I use the cub as the default scenario and have found that it also helps with some addon aircraft to not be in virtual cockpit mode when you save the scenario as default. Also, do not have a flightplan loaded in case you later delete the flightplan file from your documents folder.

Another important aspect with P3D which is not commonly understood is that when you close P3D make sure it has fully closed - it usually takes my pc 30 seconds or so after the screen has shutdown for P3D to release the microphone. If you relaunch before it has closed this can cause issues. You can check in task manager to make sure P3D task is no longer running.

Very good point. I use GSX Level 2 Control utility to show if it's terminated.

Task Manager - Details tab will show if it's terminated. The Processes tab is not conclusive.

Simple solution to a frustrating problem.  Start with a default aircraft. Thank you 'Mark' for the reminder  and everyone else for the support. Problem solved...
