FSX: Window Mode vs. Full Screen

Featured Replies

In your experience, and regardless of your underlying hardware and OS (XP or Vista), is there any frame rate or performance advantage to running FSX in Full Screen mode vs. Window mode?Kerke

Kerke - Windowed mode always seems to work better for me in both FS9 and FSX. I have experimented with both fairly frequently. Don't have any hard data to demonstrate though.Scott

you'll find different answers.....but mine's always been the same as Scott

I did a short flight yesterday witg FSX and Vista and I can report just the opposite. Full screen got me an fps boost of 8-10 fps. I'll try, if I can duplicate this. This was with Vista Ultimate 64Bit and nVidia ForceWare 100 beta release.Pat

When I first got FS9 I had an ATI 9200 card and got better performance in windowed mode. Since changing to an ATI X1300, full screen is much better. So I say try each and decide for yourself.R-

Ron, +1Best of all, it takes only seconds to find out. Allcott

I get much higher FPS in windowed mode over full screen.Gary

One of the Aces blogs stated that fullscreen was the preferred method. Personally, I don't see much difference except that dual monitors becomes a chore.P4 3.4 2G Corsair PCIx 7600/512 Xp Pro SP2 CH Yoke/pedalsVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/
