MSFS Reverse thrust configuration

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I think I am in the wrong place but I cannot get into the MSFS2020 forum at the moment for some reason. Mods please move if you deem it necessary.

I have a full Saitek yoke with quadrant, 2 x other quadrants, Rudder Pedals and trim wheel.  With the throttles, I have the yoke quadrant to speedbrakes, throttle 1 and throttle 2, I am trying to configure my yoke quadrant (throttle 1 bottom detent) to toggle Hold Reverse Thrust. When I configure it, it recognises it as "RX" but then the sim locks up. I cannot validate, cancel  or clear the setting. The only way out is to end task.  The same applies when I try any of the bottom detents.  This was all OK and worked very well prior to the update which, incidentally changed many of my configurations. I assumed that it simply reverted to the default configurations. I went through each of the keyboard/mouse/rudder/throttles and yoke after I discovered the problem and re-deleted all the configurations in each and then reconfigured what I actually wanted to use. Again, this is something I do with all my simulators and was the system I used when I originally set up MSFS2020.

I have just been through all my settings and this is not configured elsewhere or duplicated.

Does anyone have any clues about what is happening and if anyone else has this problem?

Regards

Tony

Ha ha, talk about timing!  I've just been struggling with this, moments ago!

So, when you're in the assignments page, and the dialogue appears to lock up...... you need to raise your Saitek Throttle Quad back out of the 'detent' (it's actually just read as a button), and the MSFS assignment dialogue should then let you hit validate.

But........ it still doesn't work in the sim.

The only way I can get reverse to work in the sim, is by assigning the Toggle version of reverse (instead of Hold) but I don't like it that way - having to pull back into the detent, then move the axis forward to actually get reverse thrust just feels very unrealistic.

In FSX / P3D, the hold assignment worked fine, but at this point in MSFS it just seems broken.

Maybe this will help I am not using saitek anymore but this worked for me took me quite a bit of time to get it to work - this is for one lever to do forward power and reverse power - this was to get A320 throttles to work with one saitek lever fyi

You will have to play with sensitivity setting's also that would be for you to figure out all systems different really 🙂 I suggest you take a screenshot for future ref when you set it right

Richard,

I just did that and if I leave in the fully forward position after re-configuring throttle 1, when I try to configure the hold throttle reverse I get the axis + RX.  I have done this, and will try it out but I think maybe that to get it to activate, on landing I will have to flick the throttle forward and then straight back into the detent to incorporate both.

This may not be the best fix but I will definitely try it out.

Regards and thanks for the tip.

Rich you are a LEGEND !

(it worked 😉)

I have honestly been trying to get any sort of reverse working in MSFS for months, with no success.  I had assigned the control to "reverse thrust" but that doesn't work - the "decrease throttle" assignment you suggested works perfectly.

Thanks so much, man!

Tony dont move the the controller you can pick in pull down menu and force it to what you want but Im not sure what I have posted is going to help you - dont look at lever position in pic thats MSFS generic picture not mine as I was making adjustments

OK guys,

I tried your method again Richard and now I only have reverse thrust. Pushing the throttle forward goes straight into reverse thrust. I have deleted those settings and tried decrease throttle 1 and decrease throttle 2 to register rx and ry. however that setting  too gives only reverse thrust. I have deleted them again and I am getting out and back in to MSFS ... Just loading now.

I just noticed you are using throttle 0-100% and I am using throttle axis, so I will try that right now .. still loading at the moment.
