They released a major performance update that went a bit too far for some PC users and introduced a raft of new bugs - probably due to the magnitude of the code changes. They are already working on fixing those bugs. Yes, it was a "downgrade" for some people, yes that is unfortunate, and yes I understand anyone not pleased with that since the updates are mandatory. But beyond that, people really need to get a grip with the broad proclamations about how "it's back to game status", or "Aha! They only cared about Xbox all along!" or "bwoken pwomises!" and childish nonsense like that. Asobo are probably operating on timelines that aren't entirely of their own preference or design since they aren't the publisher. They are already hard at work on fixing the issues introduced by the update, which if nothing else demonstrates that they are indeed ISSUES, and not unearthed proof that they really only care about little Billy and his Xbox. They ported a sim to a console. They backported impressive performance optimizations made for that venture to PC, which had some unintended consequences. Beyond that basic reality, people really need to get off the soapbox with the broad declarations. Bugs are a reality of game development these days. P3D is far more "mature" software than MSFS is and has been iterated upon for years, and their major version updates STILL cause headaches for large numbers of people if the P3D forum here is any indication. The only major difference is that the updates are mandatory for MSFS, so you can't just rollback and wait, which exacerbates the impotent rage. "bloody dramatic", "bwoken pwomises" and "childish" are but an attempt to turn this thread into a flame and see it closed asap. Please avoid personal judgements, this is not the place for them. I see that those who are experiencing a faster, smoother game find it hard to put themselves in the shoes of those (not a minority) who are experiencing degraded visual performances and even continuous ctds (six in a row yesterday trying to launch the standard Kennedy landing and Nice landing challenges, at which point I gave up and turned the PC off). This is quite sad, because FS communities were once places where trying to help each other was the only important thing. But that was a century ago. Now try for a moment to think about it: this time they pushed a bugged mandatory update, well knowing that a lot of people would experience a broken or downgraded game. But they did. Why? Because they had to: SU4 would not be playable on an XBox and there was a deadline set by the commercial people. I am sorry if someone doesn't like this, but denying that this is what happened won't help anyone. What will happen next time there are conflicting requirements between the two versions? And, knowing that resources are limited, what happens when there are choices to be made about development? Make happy the XBox fans who want to shoot enemies or the PC geeks who believe they are actual pilots? What happened with SU5 says that XBox was chosen, at the cost of grounding many PC pilots. I think it is in our best interest to say that we know what happened and that we would like to be reassured that it will not happen again. I will feel safe when I see two slightly different branches, with sliders on the PC version to make use of more advanced hardware. Can we agree on this? A.

On my rig, SU5 is actually stable, and once I increased the LOD sliders to 200, the scenery is pretty good again, and the performance increase most welcome.. so I am optimistic 🙂 That is my take exactly. I still feel there is too much haze, but then again where I've been flying there has been a lot of haze in the real world due to western NA and Greecian wildfires!
