Other planes at airports: No 747 or 787?

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

I have the premium deluxe version (from Steam). I use Live traffic. I do not use Multiplayer.

When at a large airport, I never see any 747's or 787's parked at the gates, or being used as live traffic. All I see are A320's, an occasional A380, and various small aircraft. As far as I recall, it has always been like this. Am I missing something? Some setting?

Thanks,

...jim

Might be related to the setting "use generic models" for AI traffic? If I am not mistaken, since I put this on "on", all other models besides those ugly A330, A380 lookalikes and the A320 are not used anymore. Good for me, as the other option was having also DC-6s etc. used as AI traffic, which I certainly like even less...

In any case, I do not care about AI traffic until AIG is out. Until then, I often turn everything off and simply fly without traffic...

I see 787s when I take off or land at CYVR (Vancouver), I think.  For 747s, I don't recall seeing one though.

I was just reading the AIG forum and happened to notice someone saying there is no 747 AI model - it that right?

There's no optimized AI model, the sim uses the high quality player model when substituting live traffic.

Ah! I do believe I have the option turned on. Will try with it off next time I go for a flight.

Will keep that in mind if performance goes to... pot.

Thanks!

Well, there's rarely ever more then a 2-3 747's near each other, so it shouldn't be that bad.

Did a quick test. Loaded up C&D at KJFK and took a look around with the drone. Sure enough, saw a 787 and a couple of 747's. No noticeable impact on performance (so far).

Did see a missing wing texture on the 787, but that's another issue that I believe has been discussed in another thread. Will have to look that one up.

Thanks again,

Just seen the Orbis flying eye hospital at Madrid - if we can get some more liveries 👍
