Up before the update, but what about 2nd flight?

Featured Replies

So I have about five hours of flying planned tomorrow in the Turbo Bonanza.  I plan to be up and off of my originating airport about two hours before the typical update time (1500 to 1600Z).  When I complete that flight I would like to return to the main menu to prep my 2nd flight.  Will that subject me to the update?  Or is the Main Menu a safe haven?  Anyone know for certain?  Guesses are of little value.

When the update will be available while you're in flight, the update will run when you restart MSFS.

I know that.  But at what point in loading?  Again, will returning to the Main Menu trigger it?  Looking from anyone who has a definitive answer based on experience.

If you're in the main menu, there'll be no problem.

General George Patton's VE day press conference: "All real Americans love the Asobo updates! They sing like word not allowed thru a goose! Now stop dawdling like doughboys and go go go!"

(Associated Press reporter raised his hand): "Uh, sir, geese don't sing."

Patton: "Lousy communist"!

With a pair of Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Junior,  the Goose most definitely does sing 😄

Cant you just cancel the flight?

Hans- I believe Frank would rather not, and put off the update until he absolutely has to… I.e. the next time he starts MSFS.

HEY Frank- if you just leave it paused or at the Main Menu indefinitely, I suppose you could theoretically buy yourself a few days…..

🙂

Yes, but you don't really need to. The only time MSFS checks for updates is during startup. In theory, if you never exit MSFS, you can avoid all updates.
In practice however, Microsoft/Asobo might make changes in the way they deliver streaming scenery, weather, atc etc. which could problems if you haven't updated.
