September 6, 20214 yr So I have about five hours of flying planned tomorrow in the Turbo Bonanza. I plan to be up and off of my originating airport about two hours before the typical update time (1500 to 1600Z). When I complete that flight I would like to return to the main menu to prep my 2nd flight. Will that subject me to the update? Or is the Main Menu a safe haven? Anyone know for certain? Guesses are of little value. September 6, 20214 yr When the update will be available while you're in flight, the update will run when you restart MSFS.

But at what point in loading? Again, will returning to the Main Menu trigger it? Looking from anyone who has a definitive answer based on experience. September 7, 20214 yr Cant you just cancel the flight? I9-14900K, Gigabyte B760 Aorus Elite AX, RTX 4080, 32 ram.1 tb nvme M.2 SSD, MSFS 2020 on 2 tb nvme m.2 SSD
September 7, 20214 yr Hans- I believe Frank would rather not, and put off the update until he absolutely has to… I.e. the next time he starts MSFS. HEY Frank- if you just leave it paused or at the Main Menu indefinitely, I suppose you could theoretically buy yourself a few days….. 🙂 Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

In theory, if you never exit MSFS, you can avoid all updates. In practice however, Microsoft/Asobo might make changes in the way they deliver streaming scenery, weather, atc etc. which could problems if you haven't updated.
