When the AH MKV will come out, who knows they but the MKI on hold and are said to be all working on another aircraft..forgot but it was not the Spit and I fear it will be months before we see it. So I surgest you dont miss out on this gem of a Spitfire Bert, yes it has a lot of silly bugs, but none are worth bothering about as the thing it does best is what you want it to do. I've flown it since release and imo I have already got my money worth. I still think in away I like the MKI over the MKV simple becasue its "the" MKI far from perfect but it is what it is the First....that makes it special and always will be. I would of even liked the option of the 2 blade prop. Edited September 23, 20214 yr by Nyxx David Murden. September 28, 20214 yr Having just returned from Goodwood Revival at the end of last week, I still have the sound of Merlins ringing in my ears😍 It's strange how seeing Spits flying always coincides with something getting in my eyes and making them water.😢 I even won 3rd place in the Best Dressed competition (RAF tropical uniform)🏆 and I wasn't even wearing my best uniform that day (ironically, that was a Gordon Highlander's uniform and an Englishman in a kilt won 1st place!) Anyhoo, having had the pleasure of 3 Spits in the air at once and watching low passes of the airfield. I caved and bought this. Beautiful, and I have found it really easy to handle without reading the manual (hey, I'm a male of the species!). I've done circuits of Goodwood and from Goodwood to Shoreham, and I feel it's going to be a while before I fly anything else as much. One of the many Spits on the ground was Dirty Girty (G-IRTY), the silver Mk.IX, as modelled by Flying Iron. Edit: Also went to Tangmere Aviation Museum (great staff) and flew in their English Electric flight sim (using a genuine Lightning cockpit and controls with MS 2004, how quaint!😊) and my flight instructor was quite impressed by my control and straight down the middle landing at Tangmere. They also have a mock-up of the Spitfire prototype: I'll stop there before I get told off for going off-topic and posting too many photographs.😇 I heartily recommend both the AH Spit and Goodwood Revival. It was especially wonderful this year as it was the first time my girlfriend and I had been together since March 2020, thanks to Covid restrictions, and last year's Revival postponement. September 30, 20214 yr Now that the 0.5s of silence on start-up has been eliminated, I hope AH will sort out the messed-up sound when opening & closing the canopy. Currently, the sound gets muffled as soon as you start to close the canopy instead of as it clicks shut (or just before), which is clearly wrong as the engine is in front of the pilot. The sound should be more or less unaffected until just before the canopy closes (and vice versa as the canopy begins to open). Strange they missed that one.
