September 30, 20214 yr Hi, Sorry if I am asking a daft question. I set up my Flight Plan in World Map (IFR) example Glasgow to Edinburgh (Selecting the runway). using the Cessna 172 Auto Pilot works great, however when I arrive at Edinburgh Airport the plane just circles the airport and does not land. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance
September 30, 20214 yr Administrators Sounds like you are not flying your aircraft! Are you expecting the copilot to do all of the work? September 30, 20214 yr Author ok so using the Flight Plan in FS2020, how do I know when to descend into the airport? What does the Approach Button do then in the AP Options. Cheers Folks?

To have it landing the aircraft you must add to the flight plan a special procedure of guidance : -with a beacon called an ILS - or telling the GPS to fly a RNAV landing Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam
September 30, 20214 yr Author ok thanks, where in he Flight Sim can I simply add this? In Flight Plan in World Map (IFR) I select runway 06 at Edinburgh. What do I do to get the Ap to land at the runway?
September 30, 20214 yr Best thing to do is check out some MSFS autopilot and landing tutorial videos on youtube. They'll walk you through the whole process.

Cheers Folks? The Flightplan system in MSFS doesn't tell you when to descent. The APR only works when you have a ILS in the NAV1 selected. (it might also do an RNAV if GPS is selected, but i'm not really sure) Try watching this tutorial. It starts in Edingburgh. Edited September 30, 20214 yr by bigifooti

You will have to enter a frequency in your nav radio and fly to the entry point at the right altitude. As others said go and have a look at some tutorials on Youtube and come back here if you don't understand something . Sorry, can't go further than that, I gotta go ! September 30, 20214 yr RNAV does work sometimes, but not always. I think it depends on the airport and how MSFS implemented it for that airport. When it does work, turn on APR somewhere between IAF and FAF and it will follow the glidescope. The OP may want to look into enabling the copilot and letting him take control. I think the copilot will land the plane too, but I never use it so can't be sure. James
September 30, 20214 yr I don’t know enough about the AI assist options in MSFS as I don’t use them…but a Cessna 172 will not auto land itself in any mode of the auto pilot, Captain. Grab those controls and learn to land it yourself. 👍 Chris
