I recall a similar video where they saved a baby elephant, with the mother watching from a distance. When the baby joined the mother safe and sound, she raised he trunk in the air and let out a thankyou bellow. the sceptical amongst us could claim there no evidence it was a thankyou... looked like it to me though, and the rescuers.

Animals respond to kindness and many times show it.
