DIY to repair the mesh under an airport ?

Featured Replies

I found an airfield on a plateau. First time in MSFS.  Is there a simple way/tool to repair the mesh under it  ?

This is a good thread. Myself I would like to know how to flatten the terrain below many runways (even at handcrafted airports) as there are too many bumps …

You'd have to remove the asphalt, call in surveyors and engineers, then construction crews with dump trucks, bulldozers and diggers, then install the electrical and lights, then repave the entire surface and paint it. In total, probably 6-9 month project,  $75 million and up in addition to all the delays and disturbances to air traffic.

Edit: Oh, you mean in MSFS

I've covered many a base, including that, in this written guide on how to do scenery - https://flightsim.to/file/17656/a-guide-to-msfs-scenery-creation

For flattening runways only all you have to do is put a rectangle or polygon around it, hit terraform, and increase its priority to 11 or above. A runway has a terraforming value of 10 so you need to overpower that.

Which airfield? I'd like to see what it looks like.

WBGL Long Akah airfield in Sarawak (Borneo). The mesh for this area  (it was a flight from Mulu to Long Akah) contains several peaks (mesh artifacts). Yes,  I fly in strange places 😃.

I’d report it to MS zendesk …

I did a short post on the bug forum over there. I procrastinate to do a ZD ticket, honestlty I think it a waste of time. How high could be their priority to correct  an airfield in the Borneo boonies and a few peaks there ? Hence my initial question. Help yourself.
