MSFS 2024 performance
It's not the X3D chips that cause issues, it's the 5000 series GPUs and the drivers that don't work well with them.

RAM upgrade question
Republic3D replied to Drebin8's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcIf you can get into BIOS / UEFI, try resetting all of the settings and use the old RAM sticks. Then I would download any potential BIOS update and chipset update and install those. Then I would try the new sticks. Sometimes a PC won't boot if the pressure on the cooler vs the CPU is too high. If you slacken the screws half a turn it might actually work.

Inibuilds A350 stream today 13/02/2025
I believe the cabin with all it's glorious detail (incl. highly detailed crew bunks, galleys and even two working cabin control panels) is only possible in 2024 due to how the LOD works. From what I gather, it is far less taxing for the system.

MSFS2024 seen by a grumpy old man
I took a break from flight sim winter of 22/23, because they had introduced a trackIR bug in December and refused to fix it until February. All I do is bush flying, so I need it. But these few months was enough for me to lose my interest again. I packed up my peripherals and did other things instead. Then news of 2024 came about, and I decided this would be the perfect time to get back into it. Delete MSFS2020, update from Win 10 to Win 11, and then install MSFS2024. But then on launch day I saw the complete and utter mess this was. It took away the hype. So now I'm just a grumpy middle aged man complaining on the forums instead.

V1-Simulations rates Fenix higher than Toliss
True. It's awesome that MSFS 2024 have these improvements, but I wish X-Plane was in a state to compete even better to the benefit of everyone.

Every day is another day performance wise.
I think introducing the option to cache/store locally large amounts of data would be a good thing. It would speed up the process for the users that want to do it, and also for the users who want to rely on the servers. The load on the servers would lessen significantly, increasing performance.

The benefits of the terrain resolution increase
Looks really nice. Still some LOD popping though. Do the size of the tires matter? If your aircraft has Alaska Bush tires it should handle rough surface better.

Walk around mode, how to move faster?
I really hope that will be an update at some point. Career mode as jump pilot, and letting other players jump out and hurdle towards the ground, and then have the option to pull the chute and control it. Aim for a marker or something. It would be a blast in VR. 🤣

Problem list with FS2024 so far
All of these bugs were present in MSFS2020 and then fixed. It's almost as if the 2024 team started developing the new sim at a point where these things were still bugs in 2020. And then failed to notice or fix the issues. That's quite astounding.

9800X3D Released
Republic3D replied to Sethos's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcMSFS goes between being CPU limited or GPU limited depending on where you fly, the weather, traffic and so on. So it's absolutely worth the upgrade if you're buying it for flight sim use. I saw a massive uplift going from 5900X to 5800X3D at 2560x1440 a couple of years ago.

PMDG's secret project? The 747-100!
I was hoping for a 757! But 747-100 is kind of cool. To sit at the gate and click buttons, listen to the sounds and admire it.

Aerosoft A330 first looks and reviews
It seems like the Aerosoft way of doing business. They had a very good and well functioning Twin Otter Extended version for FSX/P3D. Then they made a new version for MS2020, severely lacking in functionality. Throughout the development process they received feedback and criticism in their own forums. They promised to fix certain things before launch, but didn't. Then they just removed it from sale anywhere.

FS2024, are you at all bracing for disappointed?
My plan is to wait a few weeks until the hotfixes are implemented. Then scrub my PC clean of everything MSFS 2020. Then update from Win 10 to Win 11. And then install MSFS 2024. Do we know when exactly 2024 will launch btw?

5 aircraft you are surprised aren't yet in MSFS.
I would love to see these: - DC-9 (all types, but we had to choose one, maybe the 30 or the 50) - 737-200 (all types, but preferably the ADV and/or with gravel kit, combi would be great) - 707 / E-3 Sentry / KC-135 - C-130J Super Hercules - DHC-6 Twin Otter (a proper one, not the cut down, half baked Aerosoft version)

iniBuilds A350 Airliner Teaser | Microsoft Flight Simulator
I pretty much fly only GA, but if the price is right I will buy this thing just to look at it and push buttons and listen to the sounds. Looks really impressive in the teaser trailer. Love the inclusion of the avionics bay.

New iniBuilds A350 teaser images
That looks really promising! Will be a great addon aircraft I'm sure.* It's kind of strange how there's been a lack of A350 addons for so long, considering it's a very impressive and popular aircraft IRL. *after hotfixes.

New GPU for MSFS 2020
The good thing about going with the 4000 series GPU is that it will take your CPU bottleneck performance and multiply it by 1.5x to 2.0x depending on a few things. If you're currently able to get 30 FPS in a scenario now, you will be looking at around 45-60 FPS with Frame Generation on. It might sound weird, but if you're in a very complex scenery, advanced weather, your new GPU "baseline performance" let's say, would be able to lift your performance significantly, all the way up until your CPU runs out of breath and is holding you back. That's when the "Frame Generation" lifts your performance even higher, because it starts inserting frames in between the "baseline" frames. It's difficult to explain, but a GPU upgrade to a 4070 would give you a far better experience even if your CPU is old and slow.

New GPU for MSFS 2020
You would make far better gains with a 4000 series GPU, as you can enable Frame Generation. I would not buy a 3060 Ti today. Especially not at $600. You can get a 4070 Super for $600 at Microcenter. If you can't find one near you, you should be able to pick up a 4060 Ti or 4070 for even less than that.

FBW A380X | FSExpo Showcase
Looks really impressive so far. About 20 minutes in.

MSFS at it again.
And they say MSFS 2024 will put even more of the load away from your PC and onto their servers. Can't wait to see how that goes.
-
Incredibly poor performance while on ground around airports.
It is often the scenery, some addon airports are very unoptimized like stesma54 said.

MSFS freezes on "checking for updates" on launch
When I've had this issue, I've logged out of Xbox app, then logged back in. And it worked.
-
Bluebird Sim 757 March Update
This looks promising! Will have to get this one just to play around with even though I usually only fly GA.

MSFS + 4090 + 7950x3D = surprising results
Congrats with the new rig! The system you chose is incredibly powerful, and it's awesome that you see such a big improvement.
