An avoidable tragedy...

The moderators will decide that not you. And thus far all we have been asked is not to debate the second amendment, in fact the moderator in charge has joined in the debate.

Again, don't click your mouse on the thread if you aren't happy. All you have achieved now is to cause ill feeling. Not necessary.

I am entitled to think and say "I Believe" this has run it's course.  I do not need to be directed by you to stay away or not post or go back to simming.  I actually find being told what to do more offensive than stating my opinion.

You are entitled to your opinions on guns and gun safety I am entitled to my opinion that 20 pages of this is enough already especially when the conversation is essentially hijacked by a single individual and half of the 20 pages is one person.  It's difficult to even follow when there are 5 responses in a row from the same person.

You also have the option to ignore my posts Martin, you could have just as easily ignored "me" or you can post 3 more responses to make your point that I could ignore you...

This started about Alec Baldwin.  20 pages later it's digressed to a far more philosophical conversation on gun rights.  In my "opinion" we've gone way beyond discussing the news incident at hand and gun philosophy discussions are not usually well received on gaming forums.

You weren't being directed to do anything. But clearly you aren't in favour of this thread anymore so the logical thing to do is not contribute. The contribution you have made, like spending time counting a persons number of replies and deriding them for it, is not productive. All its done is cause ill feeling. And its that ill feeling, and the argument you have now caused, that WILL get the thread locked.

So congratulations for sabotaging the thread.

If you wanted to express your opinion that the thread has run its course, then you could have simply said that, nothing more was required. Adding up a persons responses was unnecessary and disrespectful.

I tend not to ignore unjustifiable criticism directed at me. Its not "hijacking" That in itself is insulting. There is zero limit on how many time s person can contribute to a thread. If there were, a moderator would have warned me... not you!

Well done, this is bound to get locked now. I hope you are happy.

It was more disbelief 20 pages later we have digressed so far from the original topic and seems to be largely driven by a single user.  If pointing out a fact that one person is dominating the 20 pages of this conversation and half the thread is a single individual is disrespectful in some way then I do apologize.

Martin, I dare say you are being very hypocritical by repeatedly posting to tell me how I could have ignored you and just moved on while doing neither of those things yourself.  If you did not care for my posts you could report me or ignore me or you could post to lecture me.

I am stating my opinion as you are yours.   I will happily redact myself from this conversation and allow the gun philosophy discussion to continue on Avsim.

Let me just post this again though

"Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life."

That includes children whose parents may not want their kids exposed to gun discussions on a flight simulator forum.

Told ya!  Once you get off topic and start the arguing among yourselves, the topic will end!  So be it!
