November 7, 20214 yr This came in my e-mail this morning: "I've been trying to purchase a $200 amazon E-Gift card by email from Amazon, but it says they are having issues charging my card. I contacted my bank and they told me it would take a couple of days to get it sorted. I intend to buy it for a Niece of mine who's having her birthday today. Can you purchase it from your end for me? I'll reimburse you once my bank sorts the issue out. I am just trying to put a smile on her face in this trying times. Let me know so i can send you her email address. - Pattie" I've never seen this one before. Looks like her address book has been hacked. November 7, 20214 yr Looks like a CEO fraud attempt. Have you checked whether the originating e-mailaddress is actually hers? Often they register a gmail or hotmail address with a name that looks a bit like the one they are trying to impersonate, but sometimes they don't even bother with that. November 7, 20214 yr Author The originating address isn't hers - that was the first clue (but it's close to the same). I've told her to send an e-mail to everyone in her address book to alert them to this. And, yes, I'm fully aware it's a scam.
