Pilot's name for Just Flights Hawk T1

Featured Replies

Version 1.1 of the just Flight Hawk adds the facility to add your own name to the Red Arrows 2021 custom livery, and it provides a PSD template to do so. I have opened the template and changed the pilots name to my own - but then what do I do? Not sure where I should place the template with my name as the pilot. Thanks in anticipation for the solution.

You need to then export this modified file to a DDS file 'PILOTNAMEDECAL.PNG.DDS' and overwrite the file with the same name under \Community\justflight-aircraft-hawk-t1\SimObjects\Airplanes\JF_Hawk_T1\texture

Thanks Guys. I am not a Photoshop user but have access to it. What does this mean in layman's terms

Rasterize/flatten all layers whilst maintaining transparency, saving the texture as a DDS with alpha transparency, with the name ‘PILOTNAMEDECAL.PNG.dds’.

When I choose 'Save As' - I am not presented with an option to save the texture as a DDS.

So I don't believe Photoshop has DDS support natively, you would either need to download a DDS plugin for it or save it as a PNG file then load that up in the free paint.net and save as DDS from there. If you save as PNG, it will flatten the file and maintain transparency by default so you don't need to do anything other than save as once you have amended the names as you wish.

Thank you once again. OK, so now I have managed to create edit the template and save it as a DDS - learnt something new. The next instruction is to copy it to the Hawk T-1 texture file and overwrite the file with the same name. I have navigated to my community folder, selected Aircraft/justflight-aircraft-haw-t1/SimObjects/Airplanes/JF_Hawk_T1/texture - which I think is the right location, but there is no file with the same name to overwrite. My file that I have created is PILOTNAMEDECAL.PNG.dds. What am I missing?

If you are struggling to get the file created, let me know the names you want and I'll prepare the file for you.

Thought I was sorted - I have created the file - overwritten the existing file in the Hawks texture folder - and the pilots name are not showing on the Red Arrow Hawk. Any thoughts?

Make sure you are selecting the Custom livery in the MSFS menu, it won't show up on any of the other 3 Red Arrows liveries.

Is there no names showing at all or a purple box where they should be?

I ended up with a purple box with the checkered pattern, do I need to delete the layer with the checkerboard background?

If you can help Donka, I want the names AARON TIRRELL and MORGAN TIRRELL added, I will update if I get it fixed first., Thank you.

I got it, I figured out how to rasterize and flatten all layers in PS, this was my first time in PS. Thank you for this thread.

Glad you got it done!

Next time you need to quote Donka, like I have just quoted your post above, or put @Donka, or he may never get to see your post as he won't be alerted.
