November 13, 20214 yr Hey guys, was practicing circuits in DA40 as I'm starting my PPL soon, was wondering does real thing also need like constant trimming depending on airspeed changes? I catch my self changing trim all the time Luka Makhviladze

I catch my self changing trim all the time My patterns usually: reaching VY at climbout. TRIM Levelling of at pattern altitude. TRIM Extend 1st stage of flaps. TRIM Extend 2nd stage (base-leg). TRIM Extend final stage of flaps (short final) and slow to Vapp. TRIM I don't bother chasing perfect equilibrium in the pattern. On longer (2-3hr) flights, most definetely. Best wishes with your training. The DA40NG is an oustanding machine. EASA PPL SEPL + NQ / CB-IR in progress MSFS24 | X-Plane 12
November 13, 20214 yr After little while of your initial training you will be trimming automatically without thinking about it (elevator trim). You will trim whenever is necessary to reduce control pressure. Notice: trimming in MSFS a bit different from trimming IRL. So just wait until you get in real counterparts it will make sense very quickly Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). Maintaining level flight, especially if at a given speed, is about a happy medium. And in actual flight it will become more instinctive/intuitive than in simulation. Simulation is still a great learning tool. Just not yet equal.
