DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG Guide

Featured Replies

Yesterday I turned off enhanced atmospherics and volumetric fog and that improved things quite a bit for day flying in the A2A Comanche in an Orbx airport, but when I tried to load at night it would create the error once again. I just installed 457.30 and am now sitting in the Comanche at night at Orbx's KRDD and smooth as butter. I'll test it out the next couple of days and will report back. Thanks to everyone for the help on this.

Just landed at PAKT:  with Oculus VR, at dawn, high resolution ground textures, driver 471.96,  no overclocks.  As soon as I click 'disable Virtual Reality', it crashes with DEVICE_HUNG, just like before.  What's really frustrating.. poking around on the 'Net, reading about many other games & apps that suffer from this bug, and the corresponding suggestions of reinstalling DirectX, or corrupt graphics drivers, or repairing the .Net framework.  The frustration ?  I'm working on a brand new windows 11 PC, so I doubt that anything is corrupted or in need of repair.  But I'll try it anyway.

Testing continuing today.

Just to clarify all my own flights are non-VR, EA is OFF, HDR is OFF.

I don’t think this issue has been raised on MSFS with DX12 option on. Curious.

After trying tons of stuff to avoid this error without success, I changed to Nvidia driver version 497.09 today and deleted my P3D shaders folder.

During my first test flight with FSLabs A320X, EA ON and letting ASP3D (8005) control volumetricClouds.cfg, I encountered intitially some stutters and FPS drops below my locked 30FPS (on a 60Hz 4K Monitor). But after that everything recovered smoothly and most important no DXGI Error Device Hung.

I will do more testing but my initial experience is very promising.

i got one today with the latest ndivia drivers.  first time in months and months.

these have been around for ages, it does get on my goat after at least 5 years of this issue (it was around in v4) they still cant get to the bottom of it.

Im sure if the saudi or oz military said to them "if you dont fix it within the year, we wont be buying any more liceneses" they would fix it by the end of the year, im of no doubt of that.

this works better thanks,  the 457.30 didnt like my gsync monitor and made the screen flash.

so far so good. but Ive only tried it with xp11 so far, not the pmdg 747 which caused the issue before.

thanks again

You should be able to select a driver version from Nvidia. Try googling 471.96 + Nvidia. Avoid any site other than Nvidia.
