I won't be able to get Windows 11

Featured Replies

I ran the windows 11 system check program and my systems was good to go except it said I needed to enable Secure Boot. I did that and afterwards my computer would not boot up. It took me a while to figure it out but I have my Windows 10 booting up on an SSD. I was able to find out that for Secure Boot to work I would have to have my OS on an internal HHD. I am not about to move my OS, Super Hassle. I hope Microsoft is going to fix this. I believe there are lots of simmers who have their OS on an SSD. Is this an issue for others on this forum?

i7 8700K CPU @ 4.8 GHz, 32 GB DDR4 3000 memory, Gigabyte Aorus Z370 MB, EVGA RTX 2060 Super XC Ultra GPU 8GB GDDR6 Memory, MasterAir MA610P CPU cooler, 1T PCIe NVMe SSD, 500GB SSD, 2T HDD, 3 Asus 24" monitors, Saitek X56 Rhino H.O.T.A.S., Altec Surround Sound System.

That doesn't sound right. I ran that checker on my system a couple of months ago and it said I was good to go. My C drive is an M2 SSD, not a HDD.

i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440

My OS is on an m2 and running windows 11.

Why do you want to update Windows? Rounded windows edges?

Windows 11 uses new "security" features (VBS, HVCI) that impact negatively on CPU and storage writing performance.

Windows 11 taskbar is crippled and if you frequently use drag & drop on e-mail windows or folders, with Windows 11 you won't be able to do that anymore.

At the same time, Windows 11 does not offer any useful additional feature over Windows 10: DX12 Ultimate is on Windows 10 and DirectStorage, when available, will be supported by Win10 too. Windows 10 will be supported by MS until 2025.

Please read some info on the web to take an informed decision before updating.

Check you SSD format. I believe it needs to be formated in GPT format.

What partition scheme should I use for Windows 11?
To access the enhanced security features of UEFI, Windows 11 will forgo the older Master Boot Record (MBR) partition scheme and instead use the modern GUID Partition Table (GPT) scheme.20 Sept 2021

But VBS and HVCI can be turned off..?
