December 18, 20214 yr Hi all - random question but I'm getting back into MSFS 2020 again...does anyone have any recommendations for particularly interesting/challenging flights they take the WT CJ4 on? (ones that might be realistically completed, not things like taking it into SABA etc.). The problem I have is because the aircraft is quite capable to take off/land on quite short runways it's hard to feel really challenged by it (And as always it looks like besides the FBW A32X it doesn't look like we have many airliner options right now!).
December 18, 20214 yr Try a return flight between Ajaccio, Corsica LFKJ and Cannes LFMD in France. After that there are a lot more airports not to far away with interesting approaches. LFKJ preferred approach to do Visual rwy 20 : https://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/dvd/eAIP_02_DEC_2021/FRANCE/AIRAC-2021-12-02/html/eAIP/Cartes/LFKJ/AD_2_LFKJ_IAC_RWY20_VPT_A.pdf Back in the day Corsair did this approach with 747's! https://flightsim.to/file/8542/lfkj-campo-dell-oro LFMD Preferred approach Visual on RW17 : https://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/dvd/eAIP_02_DEC_2021/FRANCE/AIRAC-2021-12-02/html/eAIP/Cartes/LFMD/AD_2_LFMD_IAC_RWY17_VPT_A.pdf Once done with these continue on to Elba Island in Italy LIRJ https://flightsim.to/file/15143/lirj-marina-di-campo After that continue to Florence LIRQ https://flightsim.to/file/3075/firenze-amerigo-vespucci-airport-lirq-italy Take the steep approach of Lugano LOC RWY1 LSZA. The Visual of RWY 19 is also precision flying. https://flightsim.to/file/3156/lugano-agno-lsza-airport-switzerland-tchax95 Off course you can't skip Samedan LSZS. You require clear weather. https://flightsim.to/file/3361/saint-moritz-samedan-airport-lszs-v1-0 Bern Belp is another airport with interesting approach, especially the viausl on RWY 32 https://www.vacc.ch/file/389 https://flightsim.to/file/6970/lszb-bern-belp-airport
December 18, 20214 yr Try RWY 07 approach to SECA (Catamayo) in Ecuador for something really challenging (maybe?). I normally fly out of SEQM, which is challenging enough for the return journey (Quito). There are no published approaches, you have to work it out yourself and create an approach. I watched some YouTube videos of real world approaches. You have to come down a long valley with high terrain all around from the city of Catamayo passing there at 12000ft. The final right angle turn is no more than 1 mile from the runway. So as the runway is about 4000 AMSL, you will need to be at no more than 4500-4600 ft on the final turn, fully configured. Also look at VQPR (Paro - use the A320!) and SLCB (Cochabamba in Bolivia from La Paz) - spectacular and flyable by jet. Good luck!
December 18, 20214 yr MHTG Toncontin. To quote: "The History Channel programme Most Extreme Airports ranks it as the second most extreme airport in the world.[3] The approach to the airport is considered to be one of the most difficult in the world to all aircraft, especially in inclement weather conditions." -J 13700KF | RTX 4090 @ 1440 | 64GB DDR5 | 2 x 1TB SSDs | 1TB M.2 NVMe
December 18, 20214 yr You can’t fly the cj4 and not make a stop at telluride at some point! Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
