December 30, 20214 yr Hi Guys, Just a quick question,i have been a long time user of P3Dv4.5 and im happy with the solid performance of it. Today i took the plunge and purchased P3DV5.3,question is the switch worth it with all the issues i have read about v5 with GPU crashes etc. Also with all my addons work in v5 and will my PC handle it,thinking more about the GPU. i711700k GTX 3060 12 GB 32 GB Ram Windows 10. Addons, Active sky Orbx,LC Europe,Vectors. PMDG Aerosoft Airbus Pro QW 787 Numerous payware addon airports with thanks Gary Jones Edited December 30, 20214 yr by Benbo
December 30, 20214 yr Depends on if you are "bound" to certain aircraft / sceneries that are only compatible with v4.5 OR if you have a GPU with less than 8 GB VRAM. If both no, then yes v5 is absolutely worth it with the massively improved performance and the massively improved lighting with EA on. But to be honest if you pose such a question you should give more information about your system and your intentions. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
December 30, 20214 yr I would say yes, 5.3 HF1+ is very stable for me. I have all my v4 sceneries working plus the DC6 and 737NGX. Might be worth taking an image of your system drive before you make the switch so you can go back if you don't like it. Your specs are plenty good enough to get excellent performance. I would also recommend the switch to Windows 11 at the same time.
December 30, 20214 yr Author Thanks for the answers guys much appreciated, can i install it along side V4.5 on the same SSD.
December 30, 20214 yr For me P3dV5.3 is the best P3D version ever. It's very stable and exceptionally smooth, no stutters. Ground scenery is very crisp and EA with Skyforce 3D gives me beatiful skies, clouds, drizzle etc. And of course all my first class planes from PMDG, A2A, Aerosoft, Majestic etc, and not to forget my addon airports feel very well at home in v5.3. I just got MSFS2020 from my daughter as a gift. The world is spectacular, the standard airports are very unrealistic and the standard planes are lousy. Many little issues and discrepancies with the instrumentation and inaccurate flight models. E.G. it is almost important to take of with any single engine piston plane from high altitude airports like KTEX or KDEN. So for me I keep 5.3 as my primary simulator and I will use MSFS for VFR flights to look at the ground.

January 4, 20224 yr Author Hi Guys, I installed V5 over the new year,i love the performance increase over 4.5,but not sure about the night lighting. Also i seem to have a line around the horizon, just using Active Sky with EA off,any ideas what is causing it.No shaders being used just a vanilla v5.3 install.
