G1000 NXI Question

Featured Replies

Since I got the Kodiak 100, I started using the G 1000 NXI, which is the first flat panel I have used in MSFS. Within a few hours, I have really enjoyed using it, and the more I fly the Kodiak, the more I learn about the G 1000. My question is, where does the G 1000 NXI get it's nave data from? Does it utilize Navigraph data, and if so, will it's data be updated if you have a Navigraph subscription?

It can use Navigraph.  But it will also use built in data (I think Microsoft used Navblue).  But they also supplement their base data with FAA CIFP data for USA.  This is why they managed to get much better rnav(gps) IAPs in the USA than when MSFS first was released.  Navigraph may have more procedures and data for the entire world overall.  I'm not certain though.

And yes, Navigraph does update their airacs like real world.

Ok then, I guess it is safe to assume that when MSFS gets an update from Navblue, it will also keep the G 1000 Nxi up to date as well.

Yes.  I actually have no clue how often the default navdata is updated.  Anyone?

Every SU release seems to have an airac update included..  Maybe WU releases as well, not sure..

I believe Asobo push a monthly airac update in the sim.

To use your Navigraph database in sim you need to download the installer from Navigraph and run this when they release the monthly update, this will install the airac in your community folder that will overule the built in NavBlue database in the sim, this will then be used by the in game flight planner and all the glass instruments.

Word of caution, do not delete the Navigraph Airac from your community folder manually, use the Navigraph installer to remove it or you will be left with no database to use as the installer turns off the ingame database in the config file.

There is also an application that puts a widget on the ingame toolbar to be able to use navigraph and charts directly in the sim.

I think I will just stick with Navblu, seems to work fine, and it is free.
