Why not Release Beta versions of FSX SP1 to the public/web ?

Featured Replies

Do you own it or are you a partial owner?Anyway, all too often the "exclusive club" approach to a public web site spells it's demise, so be careful what rules you wish for.Having said that, sure their needs to be some admin to communicate those rules to registered users (who have agreed to conform to when they signed up). It's realistically impossible to ban anyone as it is easy to register under a new Email with a spoofed IP (or just go to your local Starbucks and register from a different IP). Welcome to the weakness of TCP/IP protocol.

Greetings Geof!"(...) The rules of avsim which are posted for all to see-and yes-does included profanity (...)"I don't think anybody here (certainly not me) has an issue with the right of the site owner to set his own rules: no sweat. If Tom would like all posters to rub blue paint into their belly buttons before firing off a message to the joint... well... he's the boss, and those who post under that regime should certainly abide with it. It's much more that "we" (non US-Americans, that is) never really KNOW what is allowed or not. As a continental European with a (if I may say so myself) very good grasp of the English language in several varieties including the main one (weirdly enough called the "Kings English" - as if good old Blighty doesn't have a Queen - grin!), it tends to make me raise my eyebrows in wonder when a perfectly normal word like... eh... rhymes with "well", is filtered out by a mindless piece of software, while (if I would be so inclined, which I am not) I could really insult and swear the bloody crap of a bunch of pommie drongos and Aussie galahs here. That's what I (an I think other posters) mean by "provincial".Also, America changes the rules constantly. Take the colored portion of the US population: in my life time I've seen the "politically correct" denominator change from Negro to Black to Afro-American to African-American... the world never knows when Americans of whatever hue or color might feel insulted. In case anybody works him/herself up into a frenzy about this example: it is an EXAMPLE, nothing more than that. Geez, according to the American "one drop rule" I myself an a Negro/Black/Afro/African, which never ceases to amaze me!Again, nobody here denies Tom to set the rules. We just wish those rules would be somewhat "standard", or at least understandable to others than US-Americans. One never knows what inhabitants of the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave might consider "profanity". On the other hand the most spine-chilling insults can be (and sometimes, sadly, are...) exchanged here without the powers that be (and the aforementioned mindless piece of software) even remotely noticing. Which, of course, can be enormous fun - but the fact that it's possible here, prompted me to use the word "provincial".Be well!Jaap.
