oops - didn't want to start of quite such a tread !whillst Allcott was rather "sharp" - I've heard a lot worse - I think she could be just as "sharp" without being personal - perhaps thats what gets up people's backs. I'd bring her back though for interest - anyone know the size of the "Beta" group of testers ?

"(...) This is a case where a "sharply pointed pen" would have gone a long way in helping Microsoft deliver a more solid product initially (...)"Grin! Although one shudders at the thought, indeed a few MORE Marian Allcotts would be very beneficial to the production of good FS stuff! That "Souf Lunnun Lady" sayz it exactly as she seez it, and certainly would't be prone to "please the boss"! I'm the first one to recognize that Marian can be a bit of a ####, but she never is a bit of a bore (grin)!Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

:-lol Us humans can be an unpredictable bunch can't we! This trait was a major problem for the Roman armies when they took on the Celts a few years back! Yup: just look at the vehemence of the attacks against Microsoft on this site. Good job there's a disclaimer!Agreed. I would hope for some token of clemency from Tom :-halo , (along with a good swat up the side o' her head :-eek ) (followed by some display of humility from Allcott) :-violin . . .of course I might be holding my breath for a while though. :-beerchugpj

>"(...) I agree (...)">>I don't. Not only is Alcott a "she" and not a "he", she also>has posted LOTS of very useful information and replies here.>In fact any random posting by Marian is more useful than>hundreds of mindless "I agree" oneliners like the very>specimen I now reply to.>>There seem to be three issues here, that many people>apparently can't easily deal with. Firstly, Marian is a woman>- which makes communication with the mainly male population>here a bit difficult: the two genders speak VERY different>languages. Secondly, Marian knows an awful lot more about>hardware, software and flight simming than the average forum>visitor, of course including myself - that can be kind of hard>to swallow. Thirdly, Marian Alcott is not American but>British, one of the least "politically correct" nations in the>world (praise the Lord!), probably coming third after the>Aussies and, I freely admit, the Dutch - which every now and>then tends to rub Americans the wrong way.>>Oh, well, that's about time. Since 2002, when the Western>world's last absolute monarch signed the ASPA (AKA the "The>Hague Invasion Act"), I think "American rubbing" has become an>international duty (grin)!>>Okay, back to the subject. I believe Alcotts useful>contributions to this forum far outweigh the effects of her>somewhat sharply pointed pen.>>Be well!>>Jaap Verduijn.>>I am Australian and have to comment on your assertion above.Politically Correct comment:I am most offended that, without presenting any evidence you insulted my Country and Countrymen. A far more heinous display of the "Sharp Pen" than a testy response to one forum user. I think that your account should be immediately locked.Aussie Comment:Good on yer mate, we beat the Pomms again. :-lolTake your pick but remember I am an Aussie. :-beerchugLet's keep in mind that there are different cultures represented here that happen to speak a language with similar words. A little understanding of this fact by both posters and Mods would go a long way to ensure that we can all remain "Happy campers" on this forum. Give her a slap on the back of the wrist and unlock her account.

Yup, I agree Fosters on a popsicle stick wouldn't be that flash but then it was developed for the uncultivated beer palate of Europe and the Americas. We kept the best for ourselves. :-lolAs for your "only thing they could beat us at". Ever heard of Cricket or Rugby. Who was it that won the Cricket World Cup last week? ;-) 40-15, your serve, I believe. :-):-beerchugJohn

I consider Allcott one of the rudest and meanest individuals I have encountered on a forum, not a nice person at all, so I would be pleased in not having to look at her posts anymore, as it taints the flavor of this entire community with snooty elitism.

If I ever manage to return to Oz I'll shout you a Fosters, a FourXXXX, a Melbourne Bitter, a Gold Top, an Abbots Lager, a Victoria Bitter... depending on where you live. Meself, I never really got used to the Queensland beers like Gold Top and FourXXXX (bit "chemical", I used to think), but I really took a liking to most of the Victoria and New South Wales stuff.Me bloody oath: how did we shift from Marian Allcott to beer? Oh well...Jaap Verduijn.

You don't speak for me Yellowjack. This Australian would be deeply offended to be labelled as "politically correct". Nobody appointed you as Australian Ambassador to Avsim.

er. . I must have been thinking of Polo, dear chap. . . . .Cheers!peej

Because its the natural way of things, ask any bloke down the Pub.;)John

I was merely responding to an assertion made on a previous post and demonstrating that different cultures have different mannerisms and ways of looking at things. I never said I spoke for anybody except me nor have I ever claimed to be the Australian Ambassador to Avsim, where on earth did that ridiculous idea come from?John

I have read your post again where you said:"I am Australian and have to comment on your assertion above.Politically Correct comment:I am most offended that, without presenting any evidence you insulted my Country and Countrymen."You claimed to be offended on behalf of the whole country. My apologies if you are in fact the Prime Minister of Australia.
