Oh, pull in your scone, sport (grin)! You totally misunderstood the good old bottler. It's irony, y'know. Jaap.

Did you also read my "Australian comment" and that as an Australian that would have been my comment. The comment you have zeroed in on is that which may come from typically politically correct person not me. So quote the whole post in context not the bits you fancy making hay with for some unknown reason. The two different comments were made to show that what one person may take as an insult another may take as light hearted banter. As the post I was responding too had nominated "Australians" (note the plurality of the noun) use of the word "Countrymen" was appropriate. Secondly my typically "Politically Correct Comment" was stated in first person, "I am most offended", and not third person, "We are most offended", as would have been the case if I were talking as a representative of the Australian people rather than just myself. If you can't understand the English that I've been speaking for 65 years I suggest that you go back to school and learn it.

Rude? We have a PM button for that ;-)Have fun guys and girls :-roll it's just a game and with respect for each other and trying to understand your fellow simmer (thats I think difficult enough in the same language) and to get the most out of our beloved hobby and to share the passion of aviation in a polite manner.Sometimes a misunderstanding happens easily with all the different cultures and languages. Also different kinds of humor but I'm certain that almost every member here is interacting on these forums in good spirit and respect for his fellow simmer despite the difference in opinions. It's all about fun...Andr

Don't worry about the spelling. Just holler "Line 'em up" and I'll come running like a (wom)bat out of #### (wide grin)!Yahrp.

Oh bloody ####, you can't even write bloody #### here! Could anybody up there in management please realize that the vast majority of English-speakers in this world speak English (not American), and have no wish to surrender their (native or second) lingo to the bulldozing provincialism of the sons and daughters of Uncle Sam?What the bloody #### is wrong with the word #### (grin)?!Jaap Verduijn.

Hi!Sure, I know about the bisexual nature of the name Marian (grin)! However, since I happen to personally know the lady, I can emphatically assure you that THIS Marian is as female as they come (no pun intended)! Why she put "male" in her profile one can only guess, albeit educatedly. AVSIM tends to be a bit provincial towards other nationalities than US-American, and non-American forms of English, not to mention a European female who doesn't behave like an American female would... I guess you get the picture. Anyway, I'll probably spend some time in London this summer. It's about next door from Holland and pretty cheap with EasyJet: less than an hour by Boeing 737 from Schiphol to Luton, an hour by train to Kings Cross-Saint Pancras, and then by tube or taxi to wherever one wants to go in the hubbadaworld. There might be a bit of gossiping with Allcott included in that mini-vacation. I'll keep you posted!Jaap Verduijn.

Maybe you consider that provincial-but I prefer when my 7 years old grandson browses this site that he not be exposed to such. You keep mentioning something against a European female-very strange-since none of us know what sex any of us are-let alone the nationality. Are you male or female-I can't really say.I quite frankly find thinking like this provencial-but then again I am from the United States and male-or maybe not...and perhaps you are a European female that I must not be able to tolerate. :-lolhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

>In a post above you imply the same because we don't allow>swear words here. Some seem to be allowed though. There are instances of w*** and p*** in posts but surprisingly (at least for me in the UK) no full mention of that place which isn't heaven.

And yet you allow the word Crap? Isn't this rather confusing?

All I can say, is that I won't miss he/she/whatever. While there were some informative posts, they lived alongside many snide interjections. As for who is more PC, I'm not sure the UK is behind the US. While PC is rampant on both sides of the pond, there is a Minister for Social Exclusion in the UK...And to keep this at least mildly on topic, I think a closed beta is just fine for FSX. The FSX team doesn't have time to go through a flood of reports from a bunch of part-time beta testers who don't meet their qualifications (such as don't submit a performance problem if you're running on a Pentium III, etc.).

Geofa,I do have issue with this -- all to often I see the lowest common denominator focused around one's children. I like to see people speak the way they want to speak and express themselves, I don't have the desire to enforce my morals on someone else. It's called tolerance.Yes you are from the US and it is very apparent. Other countries and other cultures don't share you morals nor your desire to make this web site 7 year old friendly.I was born in Pakistan, lived in Bahrain, Bagdad, UK, Canada, Ghana, and now settled in the US. I've done my 11 years to get US citizenship and I do find a strong puritan element (especially in mid west and central states). But I also find a very strong cultural mix in east and west coasts. If you think this site is offensive to your child and you want to shield him from it, then setup the appropriate passwords and permissions so he can't get to it. But I can assure you, this site should be the least of your concerns in terms of moralistic content. But to regulate everyone on this site so your 7 year old can view it (without seeing whatever your definition of bad morals are) is beyond self-centered. This is a public forum for adults and I believe the registration procedure even states that.Rob.

It has nothing to do with the Us-it has to do with the rules of this site which is privately owned-and therefore can make its own rules.Seems many forget this. The rules of avsim which are posted for all to see-and yes-does included profanity:User Conduct: (A) The User shall use AVSIM Online's WEB Site and System (here-in-after known as the System) for lawful purposes only. User shall not post or transmit through the System any material which violates or infringes in any way upon the rights of others, which is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, vulgar, obscene, profane or otherwise objectionable, which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any law, or which, without AVSIM Online's express prior approval, contains advertising or any solicitation with respect to products or services except as may be allowed for within the guidelines set forth for the System.
