May 7, 200719 yr I just installed VISTA on a HD dedicated to only VISTA. Running under VISTA I can see all the hard drives on my system (C D E G) and can access all files on each drive. FS9 runs fine under VISTA from the same drive that FSX is on. Win/XP is installed on Drive CFSX is installed on Drive E and has been and is still running fine under Win/XPWhen I try to start FSX from drive E while running under VISTA I see the following message:The application has failed to start because the side-by-side configuration is incorrect. See the application event log for details.Does anyone have a clue what that message is trying to tell me?Where do I find the application event file in VISTA?Do I need to make some change to the FSX cfg file to run under VISTA? May 8, 200719 yr It could be a problem in the simconnect side by side. The file is located in c:windowswinsxslook for a folder that begins withx86_microsoft.flightsimulator.simconnectInside it must have a simconnect.dllAlso check the Manifest directory you should see 2 files that also begin like x86_microsoft.flightsimulator.simconnectIf there is any missing try a FSX repair if none is missing I can only think about a FSX reinstall or a problem related to Visual studio.Jos
May 8, 200719 yr Sounds like a good thing to try - but the problem is I am still trying to get VISTA to connect via firewire to the PC that has the internet connection. When I installed VISTA it was able to use the firewire connection to upload updates off the WEB. When I boot to XP I can connect via firewire to the PC that has a internet connection. BUT - when I boot to VISTA it tells me the cable is unplugged. I'll have to fix that problem before I can test FSX/VISTA AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D / MSI X870 Tomahawk Mobo / 64 GB DDR5 memory / RTX 4070 Super with 12 GB VRAM / AORUS FO48U 4k display NVMe for Drive C, an NVMe device dedicated to Flight Sim 2024 and a separate NVMe device for Flight Sim 2020 and an NVMe dedicated to 500GB of addons managed by AddonsLinker / 1 GB Comcast Xfinity Internet connection / HP Reverb G2 / Tobii 5 Head & Eye Tracking
