Which one? Could you get them to unhide it please. Locking the thread is bad enough, but this uninformed rambling is never going to stop if these new guys can't read the history we all know.

It was locked by @cmpbellsjc. This looks like the post you’re referring to.

You won’t be able to see it but Sean can so it’s his call.

There was at least a page of on topic conversation in that thread, mostly dealing with how LR handles "a long way to go", after striders dues ex machina post when I checked an hour or two ago, I went back for the links because a similar conversation is happening parallel elsewhere and found it had been stripped of most of the conversation.

If that's what is happening in every locked thread its no wonder everyone has to keep repeating themselves.

@mSparks, sorry but you’ll have to be patient and wait for Sean to decide. He’s admin so it would not be appropriate for me to reverse any decisions he’s taken to hide posts.

I’m off to bed now. He should be along soon.

@mSparks

I'm not sure about a post with that specific link in it, but there was so much off topic stuff added to some posts about the CIA, politicians getting blackmailed, etc. that a lot of stuff was hidden even if it had a mix of on topic and off topic stuff in it.

You can start a topic on whatever info is in that link you showed Ray.  That being said, since that link is about how XP is going to compete against MSFS, it’s bound to start brining in more debate from people who use that sim and turn into another sim vs sim war.

If people here would discuss XP and not bring MSFS into the mix as much, which seems to start trouble, things would go a lot smoother.  The problem is, when MSFS is brought up in a topic, some staunch supporter of XP had to chime in to defend his preferred platform and then it usually goes downhill from there with insults and users bashing each other.

We don’t have a problem in any forum where a differing platform is mentioned to compare a certain feature or benefit, but lately it seem like things can’t stay civil when someone in this forum brings up MSFS or someone in the MSFS brings up XP.

that link is from 2003. just shy of 20 years old. Before the average MSFS user was born.

Thats how much work there is between first collecting data from real aircraft (aka the MSFS video released last week) to getting to xplanes flexibility now to simulate them very accurately even without collecting data from real aircraft - and most of that isnt LRs work, but rather the people that developed the thousands of aircraft for xplane.

This context is missing from every single "msfs is a work in progress" post that finds its way in here. There is just no comparison between what LR still has to do graphically to look like MSFS, and MSFS has to do to match XP as a flightsim development platform.

Plus Austin and his history getting to where XP is today is very much part of

Hes is also a film maker, he has made films about that sort of stuff.

His latest blog post is about sueing South Carolina

https://austinmeyer.com/blog-layout-1-3/

LR also works with the US military industrial complex.

MSFS by design cant even strap guns and bombs to a spitfire and never will.

Its not the comparisons with MSFS that is upsetting people in here (there is hardly any to be made), its the constant repetition of pure assumptions that take no account of any of that history, what XP can do, and what it will do, and every thread such things get pointed out in gets locked (stopping search working on them) and the posts with that info in hidden.

Yeah, I didn’t realized it was from that far back and didn’t see the date. I just saw the headline saying “One unorthodox programmer takes on Microsoft’s Flight Simulator”. I figured it was talking about the new version, MSFS.

This one has gotten so far off track and into discussions of previous actions.
