PBE Voice Control Mic Symbol is crossed out in red

Featured Replies

Hello !

I'm trying to use the voice control in PBE. I have completely finished the text to speech recognition in windows according to the instructions manual from PBE Voice control. In PBE the Interface setting to Voice Control is set. But it doesn't work. the microphone symbol in PBE is crossed out in red. In the sound settings of windows, however, the microphone works. Why not in PBE ?

Does anyone know why this is ?

thx

greetings from Germany

Hello. Yes I am getting this too. I am on the SU8 beta. Not sure if that is affecting it.

Hey Guys,

Question: You are any antivirus installed?, sometimes in case of Kaspersky, it prompts you when an application requests voice control, you can tell it to allow/deny, you may need to cross check that, because if you have it configured to not prompt you, in case of Kaspersky, it will just deny it, and not allow voice control.

Cheers,

Manuel

Hi Manuel.

Yes. My Kaspersky prompts and asks. I check allow and give it half an hour to ignore. But still nothing. Or do i have to do something else at kaspersky ?

Ensure Kaspersky is fully excluding PBE.

However, we have lots of users using Kaspersky and haven't heard of this one before.

You could always try disabling Kaspersky temporarily to see what happens then.

Kaspersky can sometimes be rather over aggressive.

Also, in the Info Center, look at Speech Status.  What's it say?

Please send us a screen shot of the Settings panel so we can see how you've set everything up.

But I think you have "hard mute" enabled.

Turn off hard mute pls.  There's an icon on the FS2Crew panel to toggle hard mute.

Launch the PBE application via the Command Center.

On the top menu bar, you'll see a row of buttons.

There you will see a white "i" icon in a circle.

Click that to open the Info Center.

At the bottom, you'll see some buttons.  One will say "SPEECH STS".

Press it to display info on the state of speech recognition.

Remember that in the Settings panel (gear icon), you need to select "Voice Control" for the Interface Method.

Also you could check the PBE log file, to check if its having issues initializating the speech recognition engine. The log is located in the appdata folder of PBE.

Cheers,

PBE is now working for me with the A320 neo. Not sure why it wasn"t working for the CRJ. I will try the CRJ again. (The mic still has a red line through it which is confusing)

Hi.

I just opened the log file. It says:

2022-02-16 23:33:10 - CURRENT language: 'U.S. English' (0x409)...
2022-02-16 23:33:10 - SUCCESS! - The voice recognition engine has been STARTED!

But the Mic Symbol is still crossed in red.

You must have Hard Mute engaged.

Please press the Hard Mute button to disengage it.

Everything is working for me now with the A320 but the mic symbol still has a red line through it. Is it supposed to?

Can you post a screenshot of the mic symbol with the red line on it?, ...so we can see and trying to understand more about it?. If the log doesnt throws an error then in theory ...it started correctly...unless you connect or disconnect the mic while the program is running, this can also let iot not work right
