like the plane is made of paper.

Exactly; like there's no inertia at all.  It affects both the stock aircraft and many 3rd party aircraft.

And yet, other 3rd party aircraft have wonderful flight models and feel correct; and community mods have fixed other 3rd party and stock aircraft.  So the sim is obviously capable; the correct base physics are in there somewhere.  It's just puzzling why they're so hard to find lol.

Asobo have achieved a lot and should be congratulated about it, but flight modelling is not among the plaudits. They are surrounded by experienced FDE people from all quarters and their beta teams tell them they have the FDE wrong, but they still won't listen. It is this intransigent and stubborn part of the Asobo team I find infuriating. As you say, it is not a difficult thing to put right.

Over a year ago a group of highly experienced FDE developers with around 50-60 five star reviews and awards between them got to together and sent a very polite submission to Asobo requesting some collaboration on flight modelling, or at least to listen to what they had to say, and they were completely ignored.

Latest dev chat mentioned improved ground physics down the line. Currently wheels are just 1 point each on the ground and they want to make them actual surfaces in contact with the ground at varying widths (tire sizes) and materials. So better ground handling and surface contamination will all eventually come from that

THIS is my hope.

Actually, and I've been discussing this with Alexis, Murmur, and other simmers, MFS is a twofold surprise:

.) It is what I have been dreaming of having in a sim in many aspects, mainly tied to the graphics;

.) It is a dynamic surprise / deception whenever I try to evaluate it's flight dynamics strong and weak points.

But, just as the above post correctly stated, there's good hope for the future. While the communication with the core FM developers is rather limited / inexistant, they are really into it, and just recently ASOBO was hiring an aerodynamicist for the crew.

The latest Q&A not only explained how much they are aware of the ground physics limitations but, when referring to th upcoming test CFD flight model for the C172 Sebastien talked about some very important details regarding, among others:

- prop effects;

- surface shadowing;

- elasticity

This is really "food for my dreams" in terms of future experience with MFS.

I am slowly mounting back my "MS FS Spirit" in the old / partly cracked "brain filesystem". It's becoming as enthusiastic for me as MS FS like no other sim before was ( maybe only equalled by IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles which I avoid using because it's about War ! ).

Although RL hasn't given much time slots for simming, all of it goes into MFS flights in the FBW A320, now with a 1 month Navigraph license for the Maps too ( Wow!  Love it ! ).

I avoid doing the usual POCs with the aircraft, including the FBW, the DC-6 or the FlyingIron Spitfire because I know that they could easily rise that "Uninstall it NOW" trigger 🙂

It's becoming more & more a great simulator. AND ! the ASOBO crew is gving me, albeit the dfficult communication compared to sending an email to Austin and getting a reply in, sometimes a question of a few minutes!, good signs of commitment to making it better & better !

Ah !!!! And PORTUGAL & SPAIN, the two most addorable european places to live in are comming next week !  YAHEEEEEY !!!

I seriously doubt stubborn is playing any kind of role. Bad prioritization perhaps, but not 'stubborn'.  They do seem to sort thru wishlist items and I hope some of those 50-60 FDE developers created a solid wishlist item for all to evaluate and vote on.  Sometimes the clueless will chime in and contest the need for a specific change unfortunately, but yes, I'd love to see a solid wishlist item that we could all vote on.  What happened to Working Title on this?

I just created a WL item, but don't have much confidence, but here's to hoping.  The usual litany will follow trying to justify be happy w/ the current model but who knows perhaps it's more obvious to folks, and it well should be!  So hopefully might get some traction.

It was not 50-60 developers. It was 50-60 five star reviews or awards that were gained by the joint body of the devs who submitted the joint request.
