ILS issues with TDS GTNXi

Featured Replies

So I reinstalled from the latest file (beta 1.3.2_HOTFIX.exe) and a fresh bought TDS GTNXi and I can't get the aircraft to lock the ILS (any one of them).

So I went to their  (TDS) forum and asked about this issue, That what they replied;

"Hello

With which version of the FSW C414 are you having issues? Did you update to the latest? Please do so first and please note that this bug must be reported to FSW as it is the C414 that does the ILS approaches and not the TDS GTNXi. We think that this bug got fixed in the latest C414 version."

So what is going on here? Was it fixed in earlier update? By downloading and installing the latest file, I should be up to date!

I know this is not a finish version, I just want to know if it is something I'm doing wrong!

Thanks for your time!

PS... It seams to affect the "Main thread" in the FPS window.

So, I use NAV when the needle started to move and it capture lateral only and then I use APP to get the GS and no go!!!

No vertical! and  APP on his own just doesn't work. So I'm really at a loss here!!

Are you in VLOC mode? Which specific ILS approach?

On my install, I fly in NAV/ALT mode until on final. Then temporarily I switch to HDG mode.

Then, with the GTN in VLOC mode, and with the ILS frequency tuned, I look for loc and GS needles active on the HSI.  If I am below the glideslope, I push APR on the autopilot.

GS appears below the ALT indication.  When the GS indicator descends to intercept, the GS indication moves up to replace ALT, and the airplane follows the glideslope down.

This all works for me.. and has been for several releases.

In a post two down from here, you can find my mods which are mainly to improve GPS mode, but feel free to try them for this scenario..

I did so many, one is CYTR   ILS RW 06, 24, KDMA ILS RW 12C and many more. And yes I was in VLOCK.

I have been using most of MSFS 2020 aircrafts for ILS and I understand this stuff very well 35 Years of simming will do that to you!

The only reason I keep asking about this issue as I know it's still in beta, is I read that this was fixed in earlier update.

SO I don't know what to think if it is true that it is fix or not. I think this autopilot with TDS need a lot of work and that's OK as it is in beta I just

don't want to read that it is fixed if it's not. Too much time trying to test this thing specially after paying over $120.00 Canadian for both software!!!

I understand... I am in similar circumstances, which is why I developed the TDS GTN C414 mods..

Have a look, download, unzip and add to the Community folder, and try one more time.

ps read to the bottom of the post 😉

So here I am again!! I went to there website "https://flysimware.com/website2019/flysimwares-cessna-414a-chancellor-msfs2020/"

and under "download beta 1.3.2 hotfix" and going in the changlog it say this;  "4. VLOC NAV mode we found is not working in the PMS50 GTN750 was because we forgot to copy the update code we fixed for the TDS GTN750XI. Fixed."

NOPE, it's not fixed for the TDS 750 Xi!!! Yep VOR to VOR works now, but ILS a complete mess with LOC and GS!

So how can they say "fixed"!! Need explanation please.

Still a very good aircraft that is still in beta. But when I read stuff like this, makes me think! Just don't say "fixed" if it's not "fixed" unless I read it all wrong!!!!LOL

So, did it work with my mod?

Not really. It did intercept the LOC, but it took a while to stabilize (120Kn)! Didn't get the GS and believe me I was at the right altitude!

So I clicked APP again twice and then it did get the GS but screwed up the LOC. So still not very good.

I did a ILS RW 06 at CYTR. 063 degrees at 2200 feet as per charts.

I guess for now I will have to stick the the GTN 530. But the reason I bought the TDS GTN750NXi, was to be use with this plane that I really like to fly!! One of the best for MSFS 2020!!!!

I have also found the LOC tracking to be overly sensitive.. At higher speeds it can zig zag all the way down.. needs tuning for sure.

Do you fly RNAV approaches at all?  The TDS flies them nicely, and that is what I pretty much use all the time.

Yep, but what is the fun in that!!!LOL   I like ILS as it's own with VOR. I really enjoy the old ways of VOR to VOR flight!! That is what happen to an old simmer who has been doing this for almost 40 years!!!! Man I'm old!  LOL

Anyway, yes this autopilot need some care!! But that's OK as it is beta. I really hope they will fix all of this before it's out of beta!

  • 1 month later...

I did some testing  between  the C414, the M20 from Carenado  an the C310 from milviz. All with the garmin 530. While the M20 and C310 behave very similar during ILS landing, the C414 do not an most commonly do not hold the glidescope. This ha been pointed out  by many but not yet fixed.
