control+q and control+shift+qandshift+enter and shift+backspace

Shift+Enter=UpShift+Backspace=DownCtrl+Shift+Backspace=Right or Left(I can't remember which)Ctrl+Shift+Enter=Right or Left(I can't remember which)By the way, I know that the Left and Right command work in the 3D view I'm not sure if the work in th 2D panel. I hope this helps!:-)

>What setting can I change to raise the pilot seat permanently>to the height I want.>>SteliosAnybody knows how to change the view point in 2D cockpit permanently? In fs9 you changed VIEW_FORWARD_DIR in the panel.cfg. But in FSX this setting isn't permanent. If you change right or left and then return to forward, some default view point is used. Anybody who knows where this is set in FSX?Ulf B

Find the relevant aircraft's aircraft.cfg (in the simobjectsairplanes folder) and look for a line like this:[Views]eyepoint= -0.5, -0.85, 1.57These three numbers represent, respectively, the longitudinal, lateral, and vertical distance. The last number (1.57 in this case) is the vertical viewpoint setting - increase or decrease by small amounts till you get your desired position. I think these measures are in feet so large adjustments are not a great idea.Andrew

Hi Stelios,by way of a summary (Baron 58 as reference):The default position of the viewpoint is defined within the aircraft.cfg in the line-[Views]eyepoint = -8.213, -0.80, 2.32 //Longitudinal, Lateral, Vertical (feet)Movement of viewpoint (VC) is as Bell417 described it (Backspace takes you left...)To alter this permanently, adjust the values in the aircraft.cfg referenced above and simply reload the AC to see the changes. The 2D view is a hybrid creature; not quite VC but no longer the same 2D as previous versions. It's really a VC without a front view; a 2D panel is superimposed but if you look elsewhere, you see immediately that you're really in a "VC" with the same views as the VC everywhere except the front. It's so much VC that the same VC controls move your viewpoint left-right, up-down. You can 'raise your seat' (and it does) but what you aren't doing is moving that 2D panel drawn in front of your face. To get a better view of the runway, you must TILT your view a bit downward - thus the CTRL+Q combination.Your POSITION is x,y,z; your ORIENTATION is p,b,h (pitch, bank, heading). so why does the "VIEW_FORWARD_DIR" line in the panel.cfg work? These are p,b,h values.sample views with default 0, (my)moderate 2.5, and 'extreme' 5 degree settings:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174124.jpgMine (middle section) is set here to 2.5 degrees downward-looking (or horizon-up 2.5; think of it whichever way makes more sense to you).[VIEWS]VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=2.5, 0.0, 0.0These values load the AC with a gentle down-view of the runway, but as we all know, when you 'reset' the view with CTRL+Space, it goes back to the 'real' default of 0,0,0 ignoring the preferred view definition...However, I just happened to recently read another post/forum on the same topic and somebody (sorry I didn't make note of his name) pointed out that if you have an adjusted view_forward value, a trick DOES restore it easily: after resetting the view, press the spacebar (as if about the use the mouse-camera movement) and then click once on the screen - the defined view_forward is restored. It's not permanent but it is easier to get back to...The aircraft panel.cfg would have to be edited to make particular AC exactly the way you want them, but if the view is worth the effort, consider that you only have to do it once to each panel.cfg you need to alter. It doesn't necessarily have to be many of them -- this is for the 'problem' aircraft that you can't fix any other way. This is supposed to be FUN; Go fix the ones you need to and go fly!Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

Vilk and Loyd, Thanks for your answers. Obviously I need to define an aircraft specific camera definition, only for the 2D view, and insert it into the aircraft.cfg.Strange thing that MS didn't make this easier within FSX. I've got to search for an add on that make the arrangement of camera defs easy.Ulf B :-)

Another aspect of the 2D view, is the SIZE_Y= parameter in panel.cfg. This parameter has the effect of compressing the forward outside view vertically, which makes a big difference in the foreground. Drag the 2D panel out of the way, and then compare by cycling with the W key to see the effect of the compression.scott s..
