TripleHead2Go

Featured Replies

Anyone with a Matrox TripleHead2Go care to give some feedback on it? I'm particularly interested to know what its impact is in terms of resolution (I run 1680x1050 on a single monitor and occassionally on a 2nd monitor for GPS, ATC etc), and framerates.ThanksTriangle

hii am using triplehead2go and i love it!cant go back to single screen now !!!its alot of money but i think over time and use it makes up the cost, also i run on highest resolution possible 3840 x 1024 on 3 19 samsungs, as you can see my specs below i get good results in FS2004 however i am going to upgrade soon.

I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram

I have used it for about a year. I love it. So will you. 3840x1024 rez will give you about 105 degree FOV. Not even a 30" monitor can come close.________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 565/900 | Seagate 2x320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW | Matrox Triplehead Setup

Well, then, my credit card is going to love you guys :-) One more 20" LCD and TripleHead2Go coming up.Thanks heaps for your feedback - much appreciated.T :-)

LOL!!! My g/f is going to give me #### for this but that is the most convincing screenie ever!!! She loves to laugh at me using my TrackIR so this will, no doubt, double her fun.

Howard,How come the edges aren't aligning between the screens? Especially the window-post above the MCP? I thought Th2go is supposed to fix that? Also, help me understand something, if I have three 22" LG LCDs, each with a native reslolution of 1680-wide, then the combined native resolution would be 5040-wide. If the max horizontal resolution of the Th2go is 3840, then dividing that across three 22" screens, the max should be 1280 per screen, correct? In other words, the highest resolution we'll ever see per LCD wide-screen (16:10) is 1280x 800? What size LCDs do you have there and what is the current resolution of each screen?

On the analogue version the images do not align because of the screen edges. I believe (not sure) the newer DVI version incorporates correction for this - worth looking at the Matrox web site.On my analogue version 3840x1024 is the limit and an ideal fit for 19 inch monitors. If your monitors go above that then they interpolate each 1280x1024 part to fit whatever size the monitor resolution is (1680 in your case). My experience of this is a slightly fuzzy image but others have used it with success. Do a search on the hardware forum - there was quite a bit of discussion earlier this year or maybe late last year.On other point to note, although it may be solved now, is that a year ago ATI drivers would not work at this resolution - hence my move to nVidia.

>Howard,>How come the edges aren't aligning between the screens? >Especially the window-post above the MCP? I thought Th2go is>supposed to fix that? They are aligned as far as TH2Go is concerned - what causes the gap is the monitor bezel which TH2Go obviously can't do anything about. the wider the bezel around your actual LCD panel, the bigger the gaps you're going to get in your TH2Go setup. Here's a Photoshopped version of the above photo, where I've removed the bezels: http://www.puonti.net/stuff/th2go_alignment.jpg As you can see, the images displayed across the three monitors are aligned.>Also, help me understand something, if>I have three 22" LG LCDs, each with a native reslolution of>1680-wide, then the combined native resolution would be>5040-wide. If the max horizontal resolution of the Th2go is>3840, then dividing that across three 22" screens, the max>should be 1280 per screen, correct? In other words, the>highest resolution we'll ever see per LCD wide-screen (16:10)>is 1280x 800?Yes, as their page says here for 4:3 monitors the maximum per-monitor resolution is 1280x1024 and assuming I'm reading the chart right, for widescreen monitors it's 1280x768: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/cadgis/p...th2go/th2go.php

It is probably worth knowing that the widescreen aspect ratio resolutions (ie 1280 x 768 per screen) are not available under Vista. The TH2Go expander module that matrox has available is only for XP. And it worked just great for me on my older system with XP installed, for what it's worth.Unfortunately, under Vista, it either fails to install the new resolutions or it scrunches all the display data for all three screens onto the center screen. I spent over 20 hours on the phone with Tech Support at Matrox, until they finally got a Vista Rig with an 8800 GTX and tried it out themselves. They report that NVidia changed the timings on their new Vista drivers, and won't tell them what is different, so they are currently unable to modify the matrox drivers to fix the problem. 3840 x 1024 works just fine under vista (1280x1024x3), but it results in a skewed perspective on my widescreen monitors.I keep trying each time Nvidia releases new drivers, but so far no joy (as far as TH2GO is concerned).Hope that helps!Jesse

As already stated TH2Go has a max resolution of 3840x1024 so works best on 3 19" monitors with native resolution 1280x1024.Larger monitors will result in non-optimal resolutions and less clarity and widescreen monitors will result in stretch distortion.Where TH2Go is really effective is when coupled to 3 projectors (typical resolution 1024x768). Then you can get total immersion with 3 x 8ft x 6ft viewshttp://hometown.aol.co.uk/JimCooper1/SimPit2.JPGRegardsJim

I solve the gap problem on my three Dell monitors by shifting the right image using 'Positioning' in the screen menu and setting the horizontal shift at 20 (to the left). On the left it is set at 80 (shifted to the right). You don't 'miss' the bits covered by the bezels I find because your mostly panning the image and your visual system accepts it after a while.

Jim, I am intrigued by your setup and would like to give it a try

Robert,The picture is quite old now an was during the 'development phase' ..hence the joystick on a plinth!! I'll take some photos of the latest incarnation and re-post.This is achieved using a dual output card. The Primary output is to a Widescreen monitor displaying the 2D cockpit - This is a custom panel with no outside view. The secondary output is to a TH2Go (connected to 3 projectors). The setup is run in Windowed mode and the secondary output is again a 2D cockpit view - 2nd Cockpit views automatically de-select the instruments. You could have a Virtual Cockpit View if you prefer to see som Aircrft superstructure.Have just tried it with the C172 and it works fine - You can 'fill' the Panel screen by selecting the 2nd instrument option by pressing 'W' on the keyboard.RegardsJimEdit: Screenshot added172372.jpg

Jim, I'm embarassed. I forgot all about the "W" key and its ability to cycle the 2D view. Apparently using TH2G all this time made me forget all about the 2D cockpit. I also had forgotten about the flexibility granted by the window mode. Now I think it's all clear to me.Thanks a lot - and I look forward to a current screenshot. Now to devise a nice looking platform for my 3 monitors so they won't be blocked by the panel monitor.Robert
