Majestic -8 Freighter

Featured Replies

Hi:

Majestic made/has a "MOD" for the -8 freighter.  I've tried following the steps listed on their forums to get it to work, but no joy.  Nobody has responded to post for help on their site either.  Has anyone here got it to work?  Here's what I did from their forums so far:

I sorted it myself by adding the folder "model.F" to the main mjcq400 folder. This must contain the downloaded freighter .MDL file plus the interior MDL files from the main "model" folder.
The "model.F" folder must also have its own cfg file reading:

[models]
normal=mjc_q400F_ext.MDL
interior=mjc_q400_int.MDL

Then make sure your aircraft cfg file reads such that it points towards the "model=F"

Attached should be a pic of my mods.

Thank you!spacer.png

Aaron,

These were the instructions I used to install the freighter Mod:

If I recall, the ini file is no longer edited from the control menu program...if you want to make changes to the freighter, you'll have to do so manually in the ini file.

Thanks Rob.  I tried that process also and didn't have any success.  Maybe this MOD is not meant for P3Dv5.

Aaron,

When I upgraded to the "Pro" version of the Q400, I uninstalled my old version and upgraded. I had to re-install the freighter mod after the upgrade as well. All of this was done in P3D v5.

Rob

what does the mod do other than remove pax windows?

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

The mod is a replacement internal and external mdl files...not just window removal, but, also removes the interior seats.

Thanks.  And you followed the steps in the Reddit post?  I just don't understand in that post, how the freighter texture knows it should point to the freighter MDL vs. the pax version.

Also, you mention: "If I recall, the ini file is no longer edited from the control menu program...if you want to make changes to the freighter, you'll have to do so manually in the ini file."  I don't see in the reddit post where I need to edit the ini file.  What "changes" do I need to make?

Appreciate it!  Kinda frustrating because it doesn't seem it should be this hard.

Aaron,

First, let me clarify...you don't need to make an edit to the ini file unless you want to make a change outside of the control panel program.

Here is what my folders look like:

First, the Model Folder:

7vF05Ay.jpg

Second, is the Model F Folder:

CSHO7NE.jpg

Lastly, is the new model.cfg file in the new Model F folder: (You can sub the "interior=..\model\mjc_q400_int_noHGS.MDL" file if you do not want to use the HGS for your freighter.)

paowpIg.jpg

As you are already aware, you need to modify your aircraft.cfg file to point your freighter livery to the Model F folder.

Hope this helps.

Rob that helps alot!  There is one MDL that you have that I don't.  The ext_noHGS.MDL.  How did you get that?  When I unzip the freighter folder (that I downloaded), the only file that extracts is the q400F_ext.MDL.

Hi:

Here is the aircraft cfg that I edited as well:

sim=MJC8Q4
model=F
panel=
sound=
texture=FedEx
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=

atc_id=N256FX
ui_manufacturer=Bombardier
ui_type=Dash8-Q400F

ui_createdby=Majestic Software
ui_typerole=Dash8-Q400
description=Majestic Software Dash-8 Q400F FedEx
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=FedEx
atc_flight_number=

Look right?  I'm about to give up.  Can't figure out why it won't take for me.  Thanks!

Hey Aaron,

Your aircraft.cfg entry looks correct.

On your first post, it shows that you have several mdl files in your Model.F folder. Did you correct this? (All you should have in that folder is the modified model.cfg file that I posted above.)

Quick question...do you Pax liveries load correctly?

I don't recall why I have that extra ext.mdl file. It shouldn't matter since the freighter only relies on the Q400F_ext.mdl file (based on the model.cfg entry in the newly created file in the Model.F folder).

I'll keep looking at my directory to see if I had to make any other changes...it's been a while since I installed this one...I do recall I had an issue initially...just don't remember the "fix".

Hi.  Yep.  I removed those MDLs from the model.F folder.  All that’s in there is the .cfg entry.  I compared my all of my folders/entries to yours after you posted.  They match.

The pax versions look fine.  I just can’t get rid of windows from the Ameriflight and FedEx textures.

maybe try something crazy, like, clear shaders.

Thank you for the suggestion.  Another member made the suggestion and it didn't work.
