Launching MSFS with no internet connection

Am I the only one that finds it absolutely pathetic you can’t laugh the MS Store version while offline. You’ll get an error about inserting the game disk LMFAO. Sorry for the rant, With most of Florida offline from the Xfinity settings I was trying to mess with some settings in the sim, incredibly annoying tbh.

Wait till they go to subscription pay servers in a few years.  They are not going to stream scenery for 10 years.

I have been reading similar in this forum since the game came out. They probably will go subscription. Once everyone who has wanted the game bought it, there is not going to be much money left to be made. They have to justify those servers' uptime somehow for the group of people that still do use the game. Its like making people pay once for a haircut or something lol. Pay $60 and get as many haircuts as you want, eventually they will start losing money on the amount of haircuts and would need to find a way to get money coming back in. They will need to support the servers and deal with updates too. FSX had its life cycle and they stopped supporting it in like what 2010? I don't remember but it is an interesting point. It would be unfortunate but I see why they would potentially do it.

May I inquire exactly what the point of this discussion is? What purpose does it serve? Are MSFS users being advised to abandon the program because it might someday go subscription? Or -- a distinct possibility -- is this just another opportunity for disgruntled individuals to blow off steam?

The voices in his head?

Although I started my simming journey a long while back with FS95, I come from an online combat flight sim background.

One of the games I still occasionally enjoy is a quirky little sim called Rise of Flight. The guys who made it moved on to fry bigger fish nearly ten years ago yet the online activation it needs and the big Amazon servers it uses for online multiplayer are still running and the devs have no intention of turning them off. No talk of any subscription nonsense either.

I can’t see why Microsoft would pull the plug on something like this......
