May 25, 200719 yr Please post your system specs, whether you have applied either the Windows Dual-Core Hotfix, AMD performance patch, or both and are having issues with Blurries/blurred textures in FSX.Having noticed posts where users were experiencing either better performance and/or less blurries by setting FSX affinity to 1-Cpu-core, and others who were not (which is always the case lol) i thought this information to be pertinent and of value. Thank you.AMD X2-4400+Nvidia BFG 7950gtAsus A8N32-SLI Deluxe 2gigs ram WD 250 SATA 2500Watts of POWAAH!!No Windows HOTFIX.NO AMD performance patch.Blurries....sigh..YES. J.A.
May 25, 200719 yr Primary specs below...YES to the Windows Hotfix and the AMD driver.NO affinity tweaking or processor related performance modifications.NO to any blurries and stutters. The sim flies GREAT out of the box.-GG

It does not seem to be hardware related as it seems to be happening to those regardless of number of cores , Intel , or AMD...Video card etc...Overclocking seems like it could be a problem with those using multiple cores after SP1. But even this isnt the cause for everyone?Anywho..I can easily put myself in the shoes of those with the "blurries" problem , and just hope that a good solution is found relatively soon.(edit)I have the AMD dual core optimizer! Not sure if that is what you mean by the AMD performance patch?Chris

May 27, 200719 yr OK I have both Hotfix and AMD peformance patch.AMD 6000DFI Lanparty UT SLI mobo2GB Corsair fast DDR2 memory (I can't remember speed)XFX 8800GTX (768Mb)No blurries no stutters, its just luvly. Here is the rub; I set FSX affinty mask to 2 (CPU1 preferred over CPU0) because my frame rate doubles with the same config settings. I just checked and went from 18FPS (affinity mask 3) sitting at Tulsa to 34 (affinity mask 2). I also use track IR and ASV 6.5 which I set affinity to CPU0.I use nvidia control panel to set 16AA application assist and AF to 8x. May 27, 200719 yr I find pretty much the same thing, however when I'm in an area with lots of traffic, like JFK, I find Dual core works best!! Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
May 28, 200719 yr The MS patch is called id called WinXPdualcorehotfix.exe I got it from MS.The AMD patch is called "AMD dual-core optimiser" from the AMD site.John John Rig: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Master Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Graphics, Samsung Odyssey wide view display (5120 x 1440 pixels) with VSYNC on.
May 29, 200719 yr Here is a link. Haven't installed it myself so no idea if it's relevant to fsX...http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896256/
May 29, 200719 yr I found a word document in My Documents. I did not write it and I don't know from whence it came but it may help:Here is how to get your dual core AMD system running like it should with no hitches and stibility issues..............since the new AMD DUAL CORE OPTIMIZER came out people say you dont need the MS HOTFIX anymore, i dont know if this is true or not, but i tested these fixes with and without one another, and found they work better together, giving an increase in performance.....but thats from my personal expierience......try for yourself, i recomend installing both the MS HOTFIX and the AMD DUAL CORE OPTIMIZER, as they work good together and also give a performance increase by about 1-5%.PLEASE BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST!!1 - Install the amd drivers, download it from here... http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/..._13118,00.html2 - read this website and download the hotfix....READ here http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256 ........Download here http://www.amdzone.com/files/WinXPdualcorehotfix.exe 3 - Edit your registry to enable the HOTFIX, follow these steps.1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.2. Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetContro lSession Manager, point to New, and then click Key.3. Type Throttle for the new key name.4. Right-click Throttle, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.5. Type PerfEnablePackageIdle for the value name.6. Right-click PerfEnablePackageIdle, and then click Modify.7. In the Edit DWORD Value box, type 1. In the Value data box, make sure that Hexadecimal is selected, and then click OK.8. Quit Registry Editor.4 - Make sure your BOOT.ini has this command in it, /usepmtimer to check, right click on My Computer go to properties, click on the ADVANCE tab, then under startup and recovery click on settings, then click on EDIT....5 - Install the NEW AMD Dual Core Optimizer.......from here.....http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...1_9706,00.htmlYour Boot.ini should look something like this now..............[boot loader]timeout=30default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOW S[operating systems]multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimerFinally your done, if anyone has any questions feel free to PM me.Ok, here is a simple way to reverse the drivers...........1 - Uninstall the Hotfix, go into ad/remove programs, click on show updates and remove update numbered KB8962562 - Reverse the registry entry.3 - Uninstall the AMD drivers.4 - Uninstall the AMD Dual Core Optimizer.5 - Done.
