Let me start by saying that i am using an 11 year old CPU (i7 980X) 6-core at 3.33 Ghz clock speed (1st generation) 16 GB RAM an SSD and a GTX 1050 with 4 GB VRAM + Oculus Rift CV1

That is below the required specs as published on the PMDG website.

With it I have no problems to fly the FBW320, Salty 747, PMDG DC6 and all default aircraft in VR, I do not look at FPS (which are probably dissappointing 10s/20s) but just enjoy a reasonably smooth ride with those using high clouds, trees minimum, bloom ON, render scaling 70, LOD 100 etc...

So i took a bit of a gamble there but since i had been reading that performance would be similar to FBW 320 I thought OK let's give it a go. For me, the 737 is performing considerably lower than the FBW320. Although I get the feeling the 2nd flight was already smoother than the 1st. and the initial loading was 30 minutes while the 2nd flight loaded in 1 or 2 minutes. So perhaps it will improve over time....

I think I am not getting the full WOW factor of the VC with my system but I can compare it to flying the 737 in FSX Steam in VR (Flyinside).

My first impressions are that the VC looks perhaps 90-95% smaller in size than the FSX version. Especially the Fire Warning and master caution buttons seems way smaller.
But perhaps this is more true to life than it was before, i do not know, and it could also be I am just fooling myself.

What i did notice is that removing the eyebrow window covers improves making the VC brighter.

I have some issues with the click spots to retract the landing lights and toggling the packs. I think they can improve on that.

But overall, after 2 flights, I think I can say i am not dissappointed at all. I am sure that when I have upgraded my system it will be a fantastic experience.

Wow you are really pushing your system to extremes. Thank you for the information!

Meanwhile i have done a few other flights and i am happy to say that the performance is not dissappointing at all. I have disabled the Captain's displays via the pmdg performance options in the FMC (i am flying as FO because my throttles are on my left) and that seems to gain a few FPS.

Running it with Quest 2 & link ….fantastic performance, butter smooth.  Better than P3D.

That is really impressive and shows just how optimized MSFS is and how it takes full advantage of hardware unlike past sims.

Asus Maximus X Hero Z370/ Windows 10
MSI Gaming X 1080Ti (2100 mhz OC Watercooled)
8700k (4.7ghz OC Watercooled)
32GB DDR4 3000 Ram
500GB SAMSUNG 860 EVO SERIES SSD M.2

In most cases the performance is actually better than with the NGX in FSX Steam VR

But the clarity in the VC is a little better in the FSX version. I think this has to do with MSFS mimmicking that exposure effect when looking outside and then inside again making things darker inside. At dawn/night with the dome lights on, it is very crisp and clear inside.

I have turned the displays back on for both Cptain and FO. I am now trying to find out if turning BLOOM OFF will help a bit with the FPS.
