Turbulence

Featured Replies

Just got thrown around violently in the Fenix. Didn’t seem like a turbulence issue, but more like a live weather change with sudden change of wind issue.

Yeah, SU5 introduced some crazy new windshifts, usually at the end of each hour, coinciding with METAR updates. Not sure how the new system works or integrates with dynamic weather at altitude, but it's not working very well. I actually set an alarm for XX55 of each hour so I can stop what I'm doing and babysit the airbus for 5 minutes. Usually the windshift isn't even noticeable. Every so often, though, the AP disconnects and I'm glad I was there.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Since this "turbulence problem" was added in SU9...I would assume that if one could theoretically "uninstall" SU9 from the sim...then at the same time you would be getting rid of the turbulence...only I am pretty sure there is no way to roll back or uninstall updates which means that we are pretty much stuck with the issue.

What if I completely uninstall the simulator...would I at the same time be uninstalling all the updates that were in it?...how does this work?...and even if all the updates were gone with an uninstall and then clean install...would the updates still automatically come back?...something tells me they would.

So, you want to try and run the sim without certain updates to avoid "turbulence"?.  Interesting decision making, Captain......let us know how it turns out.
