How to set trim on PMDG 737?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the keyboard shortcut to set the trim in the PMDG 737? Also how can you tell the exact value that you're setting it to? It's hard to get the exact value when you have to go off by the trim tape that's on the wheel.

Trim is whatever is set in your key/controller bindings. And the setting doesn’t have to be to the exact decimal point, just close enough. That’s how it’s handled IRL as well.

In the TAKEOFF settings page of the FMC, where you set the takeoff Flaps, adjust for the takeoff runway and set the V-speeds there's on LSK3 an entry for CG%, which is automatically set for you as you click the key, and will give you the takeoff trim setting.

In the viedeo bellow it get's calculated as "6.8". You then used the keys you set for pitch trim nose down / pitch trim nose up and try to match 6.8 with the scale next to the trim wheel.

Go into Controls then Assignments.

Then click on Keyboard from the list of hardware at the top.

In the search field on the left, type "Elevator Trim".  You'll then find the assignments for your trim commands, and if there are none there, you can assign any free keyboard command.

The PMDG737 uses those default elevator trim key commands, so if you have trim set to keys for other aircraft, those commands will work in the PMDG737 as well.
