Experiment is the USA

Removing the 8 small files in my post above, improves performance everywhere, including the USA.

Well, this was another one I knew nothing about, and I've always had Photogrammetry turned off in settings as I just don't like it.   But I just deleted the 8 small "3D Photogrammetry" files from Content Manager and then did a test flight from my US 'sim base' at KROC.   Wow, really very noticible performance increase!  KROC is quite close to Buffalo, which I think is a PG city, so that's perhaps why.

Anyway, although I don't understand the science, this was a fantastic tweak (especially for someone who doesn't use PG anyway), so thanks!

Another slight improvement is killing Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation background process in task manager.  But if you aren't using default plain vanilla sound driver that may cut off your sound until you make your default audio driver in Windows control panel/sound to the plain driver. You have to right mouse click 'go to details' in task manger to kill it. Might have to do that twice to get it to stay dead.

Haven’t heard about this one before. I’m using NVIDIA high def audio as I’m connected to TV / sound setup via HDMI.

Out of curiosity (as I'm looking a little deeper into this now) have you discovered that it is imperative to delete all 8 files in order to get the USA PG to work smoothly?

Did you via process of elimination try deleting 1 area at a time to ascertain if it may be 1 area in particular that is adversely impacting the USA PG more than any other area/city?

Really curious to know as I think I might head down this road.

Appreciate your assistance.

Well, it's more like it could be helpful to delete all 8 files in order to get decent ground performance at US airports.

EDIT: Where I originally wrote 8, there are 9 now, because WU10 USA is added.

These are the 9 (as they are listed in content manager):

ITALY - 3D PHOTOGRAMMETRY CITIES

FRANCE - 3D PHOTOGRAMMETRY CITIES

AUSTRAILIA - 3D PHOTOGRAMMETRY CITIES

UK - 3D PHOTOGRAMMETRY CITIES

IBERIA - 3D PHOTOGRAMMETRY CITIES

GERFMANY - 3D PHOTOGRAMMETRY CITIES

USA - 3D PHOTOGRAMMETRY CITIES

GOTY - 3D PHOTOGRAMMETRY CITIES

JAPAN - 3D PHOTOGRAMMETRY CITIES

And here is those 9 folders as they appear below your Official folder:

fs-base-coverage-map-italy-tin

fs-base-coverage-france-tin

fs-base-coverage-australia-tin

fs-base-coverage-uk-tin

fs-base-coverage-iberia-tin

fs-base-coverage-germany-tin

fs-base-coverage-us2-tin

fs-base-coverage-goty-tin

fs-base-coverage-japan-tin

For anyone coming late to this thread: Leave photogrammetry on in the options. It is one of the glories of MSFS. It is only the 9 photogrammetry folders 2 steps under your Official folder which cause poor fps in the USA. And only at heights below about 850 feet above ground level.

A couple of other users here came up with this great idea; These 9 folders need not be deleted in Content Manager. Instead you can move them to your Community folder when  not flying in the USA. Move only those 9 folders from Community to any holding folder when flying in the USA.

One easy way to remove and restore them in and out of Community is to use Addons Manager.

Or you can install and remove them in MSFS Content Manager (search in content manager for 'Photogrammetry Cities' to get only those 9 listed in Content Manager). They will be removed or added under the Official folders instead of Community.

Thanks for this info Fielder.

I can say that the Aus PG is not creating an adverse issue on the US PG, at least on my end.

I just tested this yesterday and confirmed it.

I'm now seriously considering further testing to see if there are any other non-US PG areas that do not interfere with the US PG areas in an effort to isolate.
