Whaaaazup with my settings ?

Featured Replies

Hey you MFS experts !  Need ya help 🙂

Since last week, maybe after the sim update, not sure, whenever I change my settings, such as the use or not of Bing maps and photogrammetry, they're only active during the current sim session.

Whenever I run MFS again the "SYN" popup appears, the sim apparently syncs it's data with the "Universe" and... I am back to the settings I had before since the day I decided to turn Off Bing maps and Photogrammetry as well as having AI traffic Off...

I know, it's punishment for not wanting the sim to shine at it's best, and I also know it doesn't have impact other than having to manually go through these settings and update em'all each time I load MFS, but, what are your suggestions regarding the cause for this "ou-of-sync" with what I would thought were my "Cloud" MFS settings ?

What's up Jose?

Make sure you are logged in to you MS account and XBox ap. Once in MSFS delete and disable the rolling cache. Get all your setting correct including controllers. Exit the sim and reload.

In the future it could ask you if you want to sync, I always choose latest.

If your sim is totally out of wack, it's easy to re-install provided you chose a second SSD as your install location. It's also easy to back up if you chose a different drive.

Good luck.

Thx Jose,

will give the "through xBox App" a new try ( already did it once ) as well as deleting the Rolling Cache ( which reported an "error" ) , and will give feedback on the results !

I have received the sync message twice lately, and it usually says something like, " the settings on your PC don't match the cloud settings, and your settings are more up to date" ( I'm paraphrasing because I can't remember exactly how it was worded).  I always select the latest settings on my PC.

Got that too at least twice before this "loss of saved settings" started taking place.

Ouch, losing all my settings would be a real drag......

Thanksfully it appears to affect only the TRAFFIC and DATA settings, at least that I noticed... I probably hit the wrong choice when it showed me that "out of sync message" last week 😕

For instance all of my controller settings, including the dedicated PMDG 737, FENIX A320, PROP, HELI, GLIDER settings are preserved & OK, as well as the GRPAHICS settings.

I only have to manually set Bing, Photogrammetry, AI TRAFFIC / ONLINE TRAFFIC and sliders each time I start MFS.

Keep that rolling cache off and check it after each WU. MSFS for some reason likes to put it back on.

Not sure, but this whole discussion sounds like it's one of the major differences between Microsoft and Steam "installs",  'cause I've never experienced any of it, I'm on Steam.

I have lost some settings on MSFS updates a few times, but never have seen the "synch" notification.

The last time I installed MFS I thought about buying it a 2nd time through Steam... I gave up because I was unsure about then being able to login with my MS account, tied to my settings and all sorts of simulator use data.

Anyway if you have also lost settings then that "worst" aspect isn't that much different on Steam, I believe ( ? )

Other than that I believe installing through Steam can indeed make it simpler and less prone to update quirks. Maybe one day I change my mind....
