June 28, 20223 yr So I saw this on Steam and was really intrigued... Obviously this isn't feasible from a flightsim perspective and the cost seems a bit high but the technology was what really caught my eye. It's superimposing a simulator interface on top of a video background instead of using textured models or PG. It's like using Google street view as a trainsim. Like I said the price is high for just 2 routes and the cockpit seems a pretty basic 2D overlay but the technology looked intriguing enough I thought I'd share. I loved the Rail Journeys of Britain show and this is sort of an interactive version of that I suppose! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1761290/?snr=1_5_9__205 Edited June 28, 20223 yr by psolk Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
June 28, 20223 yr Yep, that's been out for quite a while. Interesting, but I've never been able to convince myself I would ever use it as more than a cool tech-toy... We are all connected..... Still keeps dragging me back and the reviews seem good so far. This one says it was just released though. Was there another version? Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
June 28, 20223 yr If it's just a video then it never changes, right? Is there more than one video? It sounds like a sightseeing video from the engineers perscpective. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.
June 28, 20223 yr kida reminds me old flight sim tech that use a interact hanging camera "flying' around a model airport. Someone said in the steam comment that if your speed are not spot on, the movement would look weird and even lagging, as they are not implntring some reimplanting some sort of compensate algorithm
June 30, 20223 yr That will be the exact same route every time with the exact same weather and the exact same people waiting for the train and the exact same other trains coming your way and the exact same... everything... And I suppose you won't be able to look around? Very high priced for what's in fact an Youtube video. I've seen tons of video's like these without the added cockpit-overlay and those are fine with me. I might as well put a cut out paper cockpit in front of my screen: that would save me some money. Reminds me of a motor racing game I had back in the nineties: loved that game back then but when I think about it now it was really awful. Your joystick was more or less a remote control for the video and when you would slow down the fps would slow down too LOL This is something similar: might have been great a few decades ago but now... not so... EDIT Having said that... Just looked at a few YT-video's of this and well LOL if this one becomes really cheap I might still buy it one day LOL But then I am talking about 10 dollar cheap or something like that. 😉 Edited June 30, 20223 yr by tup61
