Vsync Suddenly Not Working

Recommended Posts

I normally run MSFS with Vsync ON, FPS Limit = 60, and monitor refresh rate = 60 hz.  In NCP, I have vsync set to "use application setting" and frame rate limiter set to OFF.   This normally gives me a smooth 30 fps with no stutters in most situations.

Today I started MSFS, and I noticed that it was stuttering while panning.  I looked at my graphic settings, and I still had Vsync ON and FPS Limit = 60 fps.  But in Developer Mode instead of showing locked 30fps it was showing my fps fluctuating between 46 and 49 fps.  I switched vsync off and back on, and the fps stayed at 46 and 49 fps.  It appears that Vsync is not working even though I have it ON.  Has anyone else ever seen this?

Thanks.

Video cards or msfs settings changed because you downloaded a new driver or used nvidia experience?

I have the same issue. On my gaming laptop with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, I have exactly a variation on FPS even if I have set a limit of 30 with VSync ON. Interesting to know how this could be changed to keep the FPS capped and fixed around 30

Hey cianpars, no card change.  And I checked all of my graphic settings in MSFS and they were the same.  I don't use NVidia experience.

Hey edpatino, I don't understand it either.  Even though I have it ON in graphic options, it's like Vsync just quit working for some reason.

Mine has always worked the way I describe on my laptop. My desktop have the same settings in-sim, with a monitor refresh rate of 60 Hz, and with VSync ON I have the FPS capped at 30 and works quite at that number.

Yep me too - since the last WU I think, maybe a week or two ago. Switching Vertical Sync on or off makes no difference now. Worked fine before.

rayharris108, I made some other flights since the last update on 6/14 and Vsync was working normally.  So I am not sure it's related to the last WU.  I'm really pulling what little hair I have left out over this one.

What rez/monitor do you have?  Could G Sync be switched on?

Hey cianpars, I have a 40” Phillips BDM4065UC.  Its 4K but it's not G Sync.  My desktop resolution is currently 4K (3840 X 2160) and I run MSFS at 65% render scaling.

What happens if you set Frame Rate Limit = 30 in the sim? Should lock you at 30 fps and Developer Mode will show Vsync active.

I have Vsync = use application setting in NVCP; Monitor refresh at 100 hz; Vsync on in sim and Frame Rate Limit = 20 in sim and get rock steady 33.3 fps unless my meager system can't keep up in which case fps will drop a bit...but it NEVER goes above 33.3fps.

Ditto for me. I'm not sure it happened after last update, but Vsync is certainly not behaving the same as before.

Everything should be the same as before.

Ir works without problems for me with 60 Hz i set it to 50% and it caps on 30.

But I've experienced in past that it doesn't work. Usually  from a sim that was started in vsync off and then try to turn it on.

Is been a while so I'm not sure exactly what it was for me but either restarting the sim with it active or disabling Riva tuner statistics server fixed it. Now it works again like always.
