Does REX no longer respond to support requests? On their site I can not find a way to open a support ticket. Been awhile since I have needed any support.

Re WX Advantage

Just removed P3dV4 and now V5 hangs up during start up and makes a comment about WX Advantage not being activated or activation invalid.

I realize it's no longer used and to be honest had forgotten about it till now.

Thanks.

The REX/Milviz WX Advantage radar for P3Dv4 does not work with P3Dv5--you need to remove the gauge from any panel in v5 or it will crash the sim.  There is a separately-sold v5 version of the gauge that only works with P3Dv5 up through v5.1 HF1.  It is incompatible with P3D v5.2 and all subsequent versions of P3D v5, and the devs have thrown in the towel on it.

Hi Bob,

all was fine till I removed p3dv4 then v5 would not start up and presented a message about a problem with WX Advantage. I had the paid versions for both 4&5.

I have removed everything I can find re WxAd but didn’t know the aircraft themselves needed it to be removed you. It’s possible WxAd may have just grenaded my P3dV5.

Dave

The tool that comes with WxA could be used to remove the gauge from aircraft it has been installed in; but if you've deleted WxA then you'll need to go into the aircraft folder for each aircraft, find the panel.cfg, and remove the section for WxA in each case. Or you could possibly re-install WxA and then use the tool provided to remove the gauge from all aircraft, then finally uninstall the product itself.

It's a real shame because the only other weather radar for P3D5 is HiFi's Xgauge and it's not as good IMHO.

Have you tried Roland Herblot's weather radar gauge in P3Dv5?  If you do a search for his name you'll find it here in the AVSIM library.

I was under the impression that it interfaces directly with ASP3D, making it unaffected by the changes in P3D v5.2+ that broke the REX/Milviz gauge.

Haven't tried it myself, as I'm still on v5.1 HF1 where the WX Advantage gauge still works.

Sounds like maybe the v5 gauge might have been installed in a v4 folder that was deleted when you uninstalled v4.

Simmarket still has WxAd for sale so if I get no support from Rex perhaps I’ll have to buy it again and see if that makes any difference.

I have and it works fine albeit as a popup window rather than integrated into the Wx radar gauge on my Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25. But the 2D window is larger and can be toggled on/off with a button press.

Roland should be commended on his skill and determination when Milviz basically couldn’t be bothered. Last time I buy anything from them.

The WX Advantage is either not activated or the activation is invalid. Please contact support

This is the message I get when starting P3dV5.  I am starting to think that with no support there is no way to get this situation corrected. I am beyond surprised that a developer would drop support for one of their products with such a grenade for your sim installation in it.

If you look back through this forum, there’s a lot of empty promises by REX that never happened.

They checked out of P3D a good while ago.

Sad, because I used to like them as a company.

REX has nothing to do with the WX for P3Dv.5 since Milviz took it over.

Oz, My problem began when I removed WxAd for P3dv4. Somehow it affected the WxAd in V5 that is causing the problem.

I understand your dilemma and I’m afraid I don’t have any terribly clever suggestions as I’m not a Wx advantage user.

neil’s suggestion of manually editing the panel.cfg files sounded like it would be worth a try.

I hope Milviz actually ends up responding to your ticket!
