Blurries gone pics

Recommended Posts

In another thread I promised some pictures from my FSX after a re-install. I was getting really bad blurries, even close in, until I did the following.Remove FSXDelete FSX directoriesInstall FSXInstall SP1Run FSX then quit straight awayDelete FSX.cfgRun FSX and change settings.Only tweaks I have is to the autogenInstalled TreeX V2.1Renamed default.xmlTrees and bulidings set to a max of 1000 in fsx.cfgUltimate terrain installedhttp://www.gardenforwildlife.com/assets/im...FSX/seatle1.jpghttp://www.gardenforwildlife.com/assets/im...FSX/seatle2.jpghttp://www.gardenforwildlife.com/assets/im...FSX/seatle3.jpgNo doubt there are many out there with less blurries than me, but I find my setup now acceptable to fly in, where before it looked so horrible I hardly evers used FSX!Ray Keattch

I fixed all blurries, other than the ones caused by trying to do 500 knots six feet above the ground, by simply changing one setting, and it wasnt even in FSX.Prerender limit in Nhancer to 0 from 3. I run no other alterations in FSX.cfg, with the exception of the Vsync fixes as I was using FSX in Windowed mode to give me fast access to NHancer. Allcott

Hope it stays that way.FSX morphs as I fly even without changing any settings and in the same area. What looks and run great in one area can also look and run like poo a short distance away.I will often say to myself, "I finally nailed the perfect settings" only to load the game later and wonder what I was excited about.Or maybe my eyes are going bad from staring at the screen so long.Alot of times we cannot leave good enough alone and begin to either tweek it away or throw more garbage in the mix to really foul it up.After loading UTX on top of Active Sky I think my high end rig is already at its limit.I am just a PMDG away from melting something.:-vuur

Here are some more from SFO. You will notice I have UT traffic running (30%)http://www.gardenforwildlife.com/assets/images/FSX/SFO1.jpgDOH! I forgot o show the FPS in ther other photos! This one is showing over 35 FPS, even with ASX running and autogen set to the highest level (with the autogen tweaks I mentioned)http://www.gardenforwildlife.com/assets/images/FSX/SFO2.jpghttp://www.gardenforwildlife.com/assets/images/FSX/SFO3.jpgWhy it now looks so good, where before it was so bad, is almost a mystery. Only autogen tweaks and the re-install - enough to drive you mad!My system is AMD Athlon 64x2 4600+ dual core2Gb ramTwo 7800GT in SLIX-Fi sound cardRay Keattch

Allcott, what and where is the "Prerender Limit" in nHancer? I have nHancer as well but am unfamiliar with this term. Is it AKA something else? Thanks...

1. It had been previously suggested that running a repair on FSX and then installing SP1 would be enough. I found, however, that running repair did not update changed files. I don't know if this is what you did on first install, or perhaps you thought that you had a pristine installation before your first install. But methinks perhaps there is an issue with the installer, and it is saying "Success!" when it really wasn't.2. Perhaps you did something else in the process removing FSX that you aren't aware of? Who knows?Pertaining to 1., wouldn't it be nice if we had a full list of all files updated by SP1, and a tool to compare our installations to that list?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Who knows?Over the last few months I have removed it many times ;-)Apart from the steps I listed, I have done nothing else with the install. The crucial thing now is to leave well alone! Problem is, I will be scared of installing anything else just in case it all goes wrong again!Ray Keattch

This is not the place to describe what pre-render does, but the FSX engine does try and render huge volumes of data, and most times at low fps the forward rendering wouldn't be a problem - but it will be in a turning, climbing, diving aircraft sprite, where there is already a problem with ultimate fps. Using pre-render can be the difference between blurry and no-blurry in certain circumstances - most obviously for low-end systems running high res textures. Using nothing else than this tweak I am able to reduce the LOD slider in FSX as the detailed textures extend further from the POV. Test this in your system by going to overhead spot view and change the slider - if the detailed textures are still available within a reasonable radius, then you have gained extra fps at no cost. If they don't, then you haven't. The only clue that you didn't have a texture load limit (and I doubt there is any computer currently made that don't even post-SP1 that doesn't) the the prerender limit causes mouse lag.Takes seconds to try.Allcott
